I called someone who had family in Pitt & the family checked it out. I also put in the Raddison as someone had posted it. They made sure they were in a good part of town & close to Kennywood (the amuse. pk they say is better). This is the price for 10 or more rooms. 1. Hampton Inn/Lebannon Church Rd 2. Spring Hill Suites by Marriot/1000 Regis Ave 3. Holiday Inn/915 Brinton Rd 4. Radisson Hotel/101 Radisson Dr 1 2 3 4 Outdoor Pool yes no no yes Indoor Pool no yes yes yes Free Parking yes yes yes yes Free Breakfast yes yes No No Bed Size Q, K D, K D,SQ, SK D, K Price $89 $103 $85 $85 Kennywood 15 min 15 min ? 30 mi My Opinion -inside pool, more important if it rains -Free breakfast, by the time you buy breakfast for your family it would cost more than the difference in hotel prices What do all of you think? Let me know. If someone is doing the hotel thing don't let me stop you. LOL Pat

So then it looks like you are recommending SpringHill Suites?? I was trying to go through a process of elimination here based on what you put and that's what I'm coming up with!!
I'm ok with SpringHill Suites. For those of you that have not stayed at a SpringHill before, every room is truly a suite and usually has two TV's, a microwave and a fridge. The beds are kind of hard, but otherwise I have never stayed in a bad SpringHill (they can't all be Westins or Sofitel's, can they?). And, they are part of Marriott, so I would earn points for staying there! LOL

Well, although we still don't know WHAT we are doing.. I got the same impression from the "grid" Pat offered LOL.. Springhill Suites... and for us personally... a place with a micro and fridge is a MUST for my boy... so.. that would be cool!
Those are good prices... Pat is trying to sway me to go... Atlanta will be more expensive then that! LOL.... Pat is doing a GREAT job at swaying me to go to Pitts let me tell ya!
I PM'd her saying to post links to these hotels.. maybe she will!

Yes! Spring Hill & the Hampton Inn are both in good areas to access the parks & one of the big malls. I think I know where the 3rd is as well. Also a straight shot for me to run down & meet everyone. Way better than those 1st offerings. Can't wait ! Don't forget to check if your Entertainment book or AAA cards offer any special rates !

Checked out this Spring Hill Suites, and there is a photo tour. The pool is not huge, but looks large enough for all our kids to have plenty of fun in! (And it looks like there is a hot tub for the mommies too!)
I'm liking this one so far!

Wpuld love the Spring Hill Suites. With our big family a suite makes a huge difference. We have stayed at Spring Hill Suites before and been very happy with them. Was talking more to Bernie about it and it seems like it could really be a possibility for us!

Ok, this hotel sits right by Allegheny County Airport & Century 3 mall if you want to look up either of those. I know the airport used to do tours...also Allegheny County's South Park is right there. Southpark has an outdoor roller rink & lots of nice play areas + a wave pool. There are also usually alot of muscle & tuner cars cruising that area on weekends.

Christie~ The get together is definitely a GO!!!! And, I think we'll get it together as far as the definite plans fairly soon. It's always a bit hard for one person to be in charge of this big function.........I've done it and always ended up worrying about EVERYTHING. It is impossible to find the perfect hotel, picnic spot, amusement park, etc and there will always be someone who is less than pleased with your choice. Being in charge is a great job for someone who can say "this is where we're going. Join us if you want to"!!! I struggle with that.........I tend to say "Here is ONE nice place. Please, EVERYONE agree with me and let's go and have the BEST time". Too much pressure!! I'm off work and will make some calls today. I was ready to say the Spring Hill Suites was looking very very good.......but got some emails about the room rates being a bit too high. And, it really is higher than what we have always had in the past. Even if we had to drive 15 miles to the amusement park, would it be worth $20-$40 more per night? Just a question everyone needs to think about. I'm also going to look into any available campgrounds near the area. We have had people bring campers or tents and stay CLOSE to the hotel and come over to swim with us and that worked out really well.
I know everyone has to make plans.........but we have settled on the DATE and LOCATION, so that's a plus! I say we continue to all plan to be in PITTSBURGH on Friday night, the 14th of July and plan to have a GREAT time. Stay tuned for exactly what HOTEL we'll be in. Hopefully, we'll have that part of the plans made before April. Then, we can sit back and relax for at least 3 months! (Then, we'll have to start looking for a park for the picnic!)
