Oh my gosh, I was cleaning Dani's room while she was at her father's tonight. I came to a wet spot. I sniffed and it smelled like urine.
I have been proactively working with her about using the potty. Do you think she woke up and squatted on the floor or was too lazy to go into the big girl potty. I was surprised she seemed dry most of yesterday. Then I found the culprit. Yesterday, I put her Dora underwear on below her pull ups. I wonder if she did not want to get her Dora underwear wet?
I can't address it now--too much time has gone by. Did any of your kids use places other than the bathroom to go potty. I am not too concerned. It just shows me she is getting the concept of going potty outside of her pants--now if we could just get the big girl potty in place. They are having better luck with her at school, daycare and at home with me. Daddy says--it is NEVER a problem or issue-yay right. Doubt it. Oh well.
Kind of a vent and wondering if anyone else's child did this.

Hi, No, I don't think Emma has ever done this. She is having problems with potty training though. She will go usually if I take her but she rarely says she needs to go. She is 6 and sometimes if she poops in her pull-up or panties she will even play with it. It makes me sooo mad. Have you ever had that problem? Leah

HI Leah, Thankfully no with the poopy. She knows it is yucky and will keep he legs up to clean her. However, her favorite phrase is pooh-pooh butt. It is hard not to suppress a giggle. It seems like many kids are curious about their own feces. Dani beams with joy when she has pooped in the potty. Maybe keep her hands occupied with other things when you are changing her. Also, tell her it is yucky and not to touch it while you are cleaning. Give her a big hug and kiss if she obeys you,and thank her for obeying momma. If you catch her after the fact. Gently speak to her that it is not to be played with, then clean her as you normally would and reward with praises if she obeys while you clean her. Good luck, Kim [glow=red,2,300]I will love you forever and ever[/glow]but momma[/img]

YES More times than I can count! My friend's son did too & he does not have DS. Neither of us let the boys pee "behind the bushes" either. I promise it gets better ;D Pat

We had this problem with my second daughter who is slightly hypotonic but no Ds. She was very creative though - peeing in anything even remotely potty-like or container-ish Once we got her therapy for the hypotonia, she quit this. It could be that she just isn't close enough to the potty when she has to go. Maybe put a potty seat in her room. I'd do that if I had it to do over again. Best wishes Chris too

Mine would not fully wake up and go in the closet instead of the bathroom or would go on the way to the bathroom. We installed a motion detector light in his closet to wake him up if he wondered in there. We also installed more lighting in the bathroom to help wake him up.
It seems to be working.

Thanks all,
Your the best.
I imagine, I will find other spots too. Can't blame it on the dog as we had to adopt her out to a new home (she kept stealing Dani's food and peeing on the carpet). The big "D" was hard on our dog too.
I was impressed that Dani must have pulled everything down and then up again. Amazing the things that bring us joy.

I hate to say it as it brings back memories, but OH YA!!!!! Adam used to do this all the time. I had posted a few years ago on this site because he was actually getting pretty artistic with painting his room with you know what? I am glad those days are over. Hang in there and hugs to you.
