And just in the news is that Larry Birkhead has been patching Danielynn, www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,322555,00.html for strabismus. Hey, in our house, patching is a good thing. Don't ask. -- Bob

Ethan goes to a ped opthamologist twice yearly, in fact has his bi-annual appt. on Monday. He's been seen since he was about ten months old.
Our optometrist was not able to get a good exam on him, despite an incredible chairside manner. The folks at our university hospital have it down to a science, and fitted him for glasses at I think four years old. He has accomodative esotropia. His right eye turns in when he's doing close work, and bifocals in his glasses have eliminated that problem!
And Bob, you're looking a little like Captain Jack, LOL! Minus the dreadlocks and scummy teeth........
Been there, done that. Scratched corneas more than once, and in a stunning display of stupidity, an ulcerated cornea. I'm with you.....don't ask.

Rhienne had his first eye exam at 15 months. His eyes were crossing pretty frequently and I wanted to see about that. They held different strengths of prisms up to his eyes while they looked through some high-powered thingamabobs. He cooperated enough to see when his eyes came into focus, and they based his prescription on that. He only got half the prescription for the first two years because his prescription was so strong. He wears glasses now, but he has reverted to breaking them again. Had huge problems with that when he was younger, and he just started doing it again. Have not been able to figure out why he does it. Bought a pair on Thursday - he broke them on Sunday. (sigh) Any suggestions? I do believe I explored the possibility of super-gluing them to his head. Or maybe duct tape? Implants?
