I am not alone and how to resolve this issue:
Lauren has been getting up and getting into EVERYTHING! I caught her and her sister in the pantry. Lauren pulled a chair there and had all the snacks out eating them. Then she gets into the fridge. Again, getting into everything. I know putting a lock on it would solve a lot of issues but I am also trying to teach her independence. I can't sleep well at night because I worry what she will do if she wakes. She is sleeping better but still gets up at night.
*sigh*

When Mary was little and learned to climb out of her crib, I awoke one morning to find everything in the fridge in the middle of the kitchen floor and her covered in eggs. As funny as it was, I could not laugh in front of her. This is what I did. I made a little spot in the lower cabinet for her morning stuff. Just for her. Ready to eat stuff. Juice boxes, already portioned ziplock bags of froot loops, granola bars, etc. Then I went and found the biggest peice of velcro and put it on the fridge. This approach, in my opinion, saved on the grocery bill and gave her independence. She would get a snack and watch cartoons till mom got up. It worked and mom got that extra 1/2 hr sleep I needed so badly. Back then I worked in a nightclub and didn't get home till 4am and then up at 8ish. Man am I glad those days are over

Eye hooks on doors up high help keep little hands out if where they should not be. Also we used to put a baby gate in her doorway so if she got up she could play safely in her room but no fear of her wandering the house.

Renee I haven't gotten to that point yet..sorry no advice, just want to say I understand how you must be feeling! I wonder if it has anything to do with her metabolism (thyroid?) or just a behavioral thing? For me, its my thyroid and I often get up late to raid the fridge.. Maybe ask Lauren's doc?
all the best D~

I like Jennifer's idea of having a set of items that she knows that she is allowed to eat in the middle of the night. Everything else is off-limits. Of course, she would be required to clean up any messes she makes (MB, where are you?) & there ought to be a well-considered consequence for getting into the off-limits stuff. Jennifer, I love the egg story - especially since I've gone through almost the exact same thing myself with more than one of my kiddos Ugg - eggs!

Good idea about the baby gate. Thats what me and my hubby were just talking about the other day. I have a while yet before I go through this, but I will be using a baby gate for sure.
