Sister and I went out to a garage sale today and I thought i'd be a great mommy and get her the perfect gift. I was so excited for her as she was asleep in the carseat in the back of the car I thought of all the fun times the two of them could have for many years to come. We get home and Mary falls in love instantly ;D Brook is still sleeping. When she gets up I tell her mommy got her a gift and I show her. She starts crying and hollering. It's been a few hours now and she is being so jealous of her new friend. All yelling at her and just being a little stinker. She hates her and I really thought she would love her. Maybe w/ time I hope. Here is her gift...

AWWWWWWW I am sorry she wasn't as receptive as you were hoping. Pets and kids are tricky I think. We have had a bunny in the past and numerous gold fish LOL but we never had a cat or dog or anything else until a few months ago, and we got a kitten. I had to wait until I KNEW the kids were ready..and Kevin and I were ready. I also have two finches now that I got from a friend last year.
Has Brook ever asked for a dog or kitty or anything like that? She might warm.... I'll hope with ya that she does!
Enjoy!

Precious little gift it was!!! I'm glad Mary loves the new addition, and I'm guessing Brook will warm up too. Emily didn't like dogs for many years......actually seemed to be terrified by them. But we have a daschund, and Emily adores her. Susan

I just thought Brook would like her more. She likes my sisters dogs at the farm. They are BIG Black Labs. I for sure thought she would like a 2 lb cutest thing ever They are doing better this am. They both got up at 3 am and are now playing w/ toys. She is coming around I think. They all just shared Cherrios, at 5 am in the blanking morning and mom's not even p'od Now for a name

Oh how precious!!! I'd love to have a little dog for Jelani but NO PETS ALLOWED where we live But I'm sure like you said "with time" Brooke will be in love with the puppy too. But I often see when we're out and about that once a dog comes up to Jelani to "sniff" him...LOL....Jelani cups his hand and shoves the dog's nose clear away in disgust and he says "Ewww". He's not around dogs much or even animals for that matter....and thanks for the pic J~ it reminds me that I need to get Jelani to a zoo sometime this year, that way he'll know that animals actually DO exist outside the ones in his story books!!! Besides, he knows the animal sounds pretty well now! If you'd ever have us over to Grandma's farm .... I know Jelani would warm up to the goats eventually! ;D

I'm sorry you didn't get the response you hoped for ! Erin is TERRIFED of LITTLE dogs.....she likes BIG dogs.....but little dogs freak her out. Maybe Brook is the same way. Erin was used to big dogs as her uncles all have big dogs and the first time she saw a mini-dog she was so scared, almost confused by the smallness and the fact that it wasn't a stuffed animal or a toy, but in fact alive and moving......

What a cute dog! She will probably get used to it. Lia loves our dogs, treats them like friends. They love her, too. nancy

I like that name too Hubby, not so much We've been searching all day for the perfect name. I have awhile before I have to send her papers in. I think I need one of those goofy long names that all the breeders name their dogs. I just am glad that Brooker actually read puppy a book today and chased her around the office

Maybe it was just a shock. I'm glad she's warming to her gift. Isn't she due to have a b-day soon? Were you thinking early birthday present? You could call her Two-two - I'll bet she could do a little ballet for you.

Very cute puppy. She'll come around, I'm sure. You just need to convince hubby that Cheerio is a perfect name!
