I have to agree with Becky about Secondhand Lions. I watched this one with a friend and enjoyed it so much that I watched it again the very next night with my family. Both of my older girls, ages 7 & 13, really enjoyed it and I was totally shocked when my husband even said how much he had enjoyed it!
And as Debi said, The Commitments was a great movie.... I think I'll be making a trip out tomorrow to pick up the DVD!!!
I'm also a big fan of I Am Sam, Radio, Hope & Glory ( WWII London through the eyes of a young boy) and most recently a movie called In America about a family from Ireland moving to New York City and the difficulties they have adjusting to their new environment. It can be a little tricky to understand some of the dialogue because of the actors heavy brogues - and I'm used to listening to many different types of brogues with family members but still had a little trouble!
As for my all-time favorite movie, it is a toss-up between Singing in the Rain, Dr. Zhivago, & ( how this one fits in with the other two I have NO idea!!!) Heathers.
Oh, yeah, can't forget all those wonderful Disney classics!
I love this thread!!! Barb

Oh boy, Debi - you and I seem to have a lot in common as far as movie taste goes...Harold and Maude is one of my all time favorites. And well, Monty Python. Let's just say the only DVDs I actually own are those :-D And let's not forget The Gods Must Be Crazy. Love that movie too. (sorry Bob, have no recommendations for you!) just had to chime in, though laurie

Hi,
I am not a Hugh Grant fan, but, I loved him in that movie...Yes, I did see About a Boy and LOVED IT... Heartwarming..... If you have not seen Billy Elliott and can stand a few cuss words - you should. It is my favorite movie of all time...... awesome....... Life As A House is another favorite if you have not seen it...
An interesting note: I did some work for Jim Carey when he was filming the Truman Show in Florida... I asked him if he would take a quick picture with my son Danny and he said "NO"...nice guy.... He did give Danny an autograph though.... What generosity.....

I love old movies, especially anything with Cagney, Bogart, or Hepburn. Two of my all time favorites are Inherit the Wind and Twelve Angry Men, even though my favaorite actors aren't in them.
