thanks girls :-)
update so far,,,, my mom is slated for surgery this Friday (the 13th, good thing I'm not terribly supersitious, yikes!). this is w/ the new surgeon whom I was supposed to meet this past THurs, but couldn't because I got hit w/ a 24 hr flu - anyways, I'm meeting him tomorrow, he needs to talk to me -- that should be fun :-P and the biopsy is sometime this week.
oh, and Robin -- they did check my mom for gallstones...unless they're very tiny that's not the trouble :-( the mass in the pancreas is causing the bile duct to squeeze shut, causing the jaundice.
thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers - i'm looking towards the bright side of things, or atleast I'm trying to. I'll be glad once she's out of surgery and then atleast we'll know what we're looking at. hugs to you all - laurie

Friday the 13th? Good thing that is my lucky number or I'd be really worried but as it so happens, I have been having several great talks with GOD and I am under the impression that your mom's mass is a benige (did I spell that right?) tumor that they can simply remove so I am looking forward to your post on Friday sharing with us she is going to be fine and will live a long happy life!!!!! Seriously, your mom is in my thoughts and prayers daily Laurie and if good thoughts can heal her she will be okay because I know there is ALOT of us with her in our prayers! HUGE {{{HUGS}}} Robin

thanks Robin mom went to the ER last night w/ a fever and they admitted her - which is a good thing, altho' the poor woman doesn't have a room yet - the hospital is booked! and has been lying in ER since 10pm last night! but she's on antibiotics and hydration so she'll be in good shape for her surgery, I hope. I can't get in touch w/ her and can't go visit - have to work tonite and cannot get the night off, so it basically sucks. hope you don't mind if i pop in here w/ updates once in awhile - even if noone reads them, it makes me feel better. some good stuff though - i got MM enrolled in a respite program for next week at her school 9-2 for the week....and Matthew can go into the daycare there, so i'll be able to spend some time at the hospital. school ends tomorrow and i don't know what i'm going to do w/ the kids. eric (DH) can't take all this time off to watch them and i have no other family around to watch them. I feel bad for MM though, she ADORES her grandma, (and vice versa) and this separation is going to be hard for the both of them. hopefully it won't be too long and they'll be back playing together SOON! thanks again for the prayers and hugs....same back at ya! laurie

Laurie~ I've read all the posts since day one about your mom and have had her in my thoughts and prayers so often. I am so sorry she is going through this right now!!! I'm believing they will find something that can be fixed, and she will heal quickly and be back to playing with her sweet grand daughter SOON. Hugs, Susan

thanks all for the prayers, again. unfortunately, the biopsy came back positive, and it seems the tumor is much larger than they thought - however, they don't think it has spread but can't be sure. if it hasn't spread that's better - but at the size of the tumor that may be unlikely. plus she'll definitely be having chemo +/or radiation afterwards. i just can't believe this. he said she's so d**ned upset (obviously) - but the thing is she was in total denial about all of this....she really thought she was going to be OK. and I can't get in touch w/ her or go to the hospital 'cause of the kids....this is the worst. sorry....anyways, surgery tomorrow. remember her, please! laurie

Awwwww LAURIE girl, first and foremost MEGA Hugs going out to you and your Mom.
Hang in there girl, one day at a time if you can and I know its much easier for me to say but PLEASE try and not think the worse. POSITIVE thoughts and prayers work wonders. Honestly my Sis was diganosed with Lukemia (sp?) many years back and they had convinced us we would lose her But over 7 years later she was with us and had beat it ;D They have soo much better things now a days for cancer, so BELIEVE girl
Many Prayers going out for you and your Mom daily and many extra for tomorrow's surgery.
I know how stressful this can be and not being able to run over there to be with your MOM, awwww girl hang in there and please know LOTS of us are thinking of you and sending prayers.
