Hi Valerie! Guess I am late in responding -- BUT how did the meeting go?? I know when we transitioned Adam the County Health Services had a listing of pre-approved pre-school programs fo Adam and we went & talked to several of the places before we made a choice as to where he should go..... I am guessing that you are planning on pre-school next fall for Alethea? In NYS they provided tranportation for Adam -- he rode the bus in a car seat! It was a really teary-eyed Fall for me when he started cuz my middle child also started kindergarten that year --- all my babies were growing up at once! --- Fill us in on how it went & where you're at now, 'K? Linda
My time has been oh soooooo limited lately! Hard to come and post or even read some days. Our meeting was not at all like I thought. More informational than anything else. It went well. My one concern was which school in the district she would attend and that I would get to choose. Yup! I did! I got my choice!
I explained my expectations for Alethea at home, what we do with her, what she can do, and I explained my expectations for Alethea at school and what I expect them to do with her. The Sp Ed "man in charge"(what do I call him?) was eager to help and take care of whatever concerns I had and affirmed me that I had asked for appropriate school with the appropriate teacher based on my expectations. Very much in line with the pre-school teacher's philosophy I had requested.
So it went well!
Thanks for asking.
