While i'm at it w/ my questions today, here's another. So as most of you know, i'm getting Brooker a potty chair for her b-day and I thought to myself I should start teaching her to tell me when she is going potty. I can't remember all those years ago w/ Mary so i'm like a newbie again Anyways, so I figured if she could tell me when she had to or was going and get the concept we'd be off to a good start. So we've been practicing and golly gee, she got it. I say did you go pee pee and she will grab her diaper and smile. So we will have a panny change and repeat that she went pee pee. Am I doing this right? Any other things I should be trying?

aknowlaging(sp.) is the first step and it seems as if she understands so try same times to sit her down and pray for a dry diaper in morn. as we have not had that with loren yet- it took 3yrs to train kyle from aknowlaging to fully trained.we have been doing it for about 6 mo, with loren with some good days but he wets when i do not remember to sit him. its a process that takes time (brook time) and you really can not compare it to training another child, i had to tweak alot of things campared to my typ. children. that is us-everyone is different, good luck!

Boy I wish I could give some good advise, but we are working with Damara and it has been 24 years since I potty trained someone!! As a matter of fact we are having a meeting tomorrow with her teachers to discuss potty training and them working with her at school, so this should be interesting. I'll let you know if they come up with any great ideas!!!

Okay...tomorrow is the Official date of potty training! We met with the teacher and went through the "program"...No more diapers/pull ups from this day forward...guess I'll be doing alot more laundry! She will be put on potty every 1/2 hour with treats if she goes potty...double treats for pooping...had to go out and buy a ton of panties and extra shorts/pants ...This should be interesting, I hope it's better than I am imagining it. She said to keep her hydrated so that we get alot of success hits to give her the idea and to also check for "dry" in between with praise if still dry. If wet, then simply state, need to potty on potty, then place her on the potty for a min. to get the idea.. Hope this works....looking for a potty trained girl by summer ...Am I asking too much???

W :)W!!! Goodluck both of you .....I can't join the potty party because J isn't quite there yet, but it's a girl party anyway I see I need to be more proactive with this and the school needs to help me devise a plan we all work on, and I'm told the Regional Ctr. will send someone to your home to help with the p.training....he's not willing to let things come out in the potty...it seems he likes the more freefall "anywhere" approach. And middle of the night dirty diapee changes are becoming impossible for both of us to get a good nights sleep help!!! You guys seem to have it all under control.

Well all right Damara Best of luck to you. BTW, what are you using for "treats"? I thought about some sort of "treat" but I don't know what. The "mean ol' mommy" in me says to myself NO treat for doing this BUT the "nice mommy" says YES a treat. Dawn, you funny!! I only pretend to have everything under control This will probally be a practice run but who knows she might get it or I could be just dreaming Do I need pinched People think so but we gotta at least try right?!?!?!

Well, for a treat we have 2 items...Damara does not EVER get candy...so , we got her M&M's...which I think she do anything for, and we also got the Rice Crispy treat ceral...it is just like the rice crispy's with marshmello treats, but in small pieces so that we can give her 1 piece...oh yea...the M&M's , she will only get 1 for going #1, and 2-3 for going #2... No sugar overdose here!
