Saturday when I thought she was in the back yard playing. It got really quiet and I got really worried. So I sent my slave, Emily out to check on her. Emily was gone a long time, so I figured she was playing with her outside. Then a little while later they both came in and Emily said.. she was across the street and told our elderly neighbor.... that she was running away!
OMG... After I gained my composure I made her father call the neighbor and apologize. Me thinks my wandering days are just beginning. THank God for the GPS bracelet on her ankle.
Have a good week guys!
Hugs,
Cathy

I think we are headed down the same road. Earlier this year, we were at my mother's and realized we hadn't seen Stevie for 5 minutes. Mom has the kind of screen door that has a lever-type knob & it hadn't been locked. I went out & called for her - and for the first time ever, she responded vocally. She was on the neighbor's porch The neighbors hadn't yet noticed her, but I think that Stevie was a bit alarmed to find herself out of her comfort zone. Still, I think she'll do it again.

Susan,
Yeah RIGHT.. When I try to send her to you, you have way too many excuses why you cannot take her....
Googsmom.... The GPS bracelet is part of the LifeTracker System that our Authority on Aging has. It is a program for the elderly with Alzheimers , where they wear these bracelets and if the ever go missing, you call 911 and Search and Rescue will come and find them. Its peace of mind!!!
Hugs people,
Cathy

Too cute. Son ran away with his suitcase packed. He went next door. The family started listing the chores he had to do if he moved in. He decided to come home!

Susan, do you have to pay for the GPS and the service? I would love to know how you can get one of those!

Actually Monique,
It's Katie that has the GPS Bracelet (she actually wears it on her ankle, because I thought it would be too distracting if it was on her wrist).
Well I do pay for it. A one time fee of $250.00 for the unit, and $10.00 a month to replace the batteries.
It sounds expensive, but in reality it is worth the peace of mind. Like when Katie ran away, I could have dialed 911 and search and rescue would have come out with this big box with a million dials and switches and a great big antenna to locate Katie.
Since we live in a very rural and depressed area, I could have gotten the Kiwanis, Lions or Elks to pay for it, but I thought they had better use for their money, I may ask them for help when it comes time to send the Neck to camp!
Thanks, Cathy

I worked for the Elks and Eagle Lodge's for many, many years and we have a Eye Institute up here at OHSU we always did funraising for. Another fun fundraiser we did about once a month was to send special needs kids to camp. I'm sure they would be more than happy to pay for camp Thats what Fraternal Organizations do best, help
