Kite Runner is on my all time favorites' list. I won't loan it out cuz I want to keep it. I put off reading it for quite some time because I thought it would just be a narrative about political conflict only. I had no idea what a powerful and emotional story it was.
I just saw the movie and had to say I was disappointed. It was well done...but they were unable to emulate the emotions in the book. To me they never achieved the depth of the relationship between the two boys before the "incident". And the character Assef was not well developed.
But it was a lovely movie...and well acted...just preferred the book myself.
I have not yet read A Thousand Splendid Suns because it hurts my hands to read hardbacks and it is not out yet in paper. Marnie read it and said she liked it as well as Kite Runner.
Glad you all are enjoying it and have enjoyed it.
