In about an hour Sen. John McCain is supposed to announce his choice for a vice presidential running mate and there's heavy speculation, rumors, reports that his choice will be Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. I believe Trig would be about 5 months old now. tinyurl.com/59yqhk"Palin, 44, is a reform-minded governor in Alaska who's challenged the party's old guard, attacked pork-barrel spending and taken a keen interest in energy and environmental issues. A former Miss Alaska runnerup, Palin hold a degree in journalism and has five children, including one with Down Syndrome." Hmm, her web site seems to be down at the moment, gov.state.ak.us/Too much traffic? I hope this is true. I think she's a wonderful woman, mom, governor. But, of course, being an old yeller dawg Democrat, I'll still vote for the other guy, expect to feel pretty comfortable voting for those other guys, Obama/Biden. Shouldn't discuss politics. My bad, Bob

I absolutely love Sarah Palin....I've been following her progress for awhile...very gutsy choice for McCain. She is as tough as nails...doesn't take much junk from the good ole boys political machine. Should be very interesting.

I feel the same way Dolly...I did the down syndrome dance (LOL...really there isn't one) when I heard she was chosen. I first began reading about her when she had the baby...and thought...wow ...where have they been hiding this woman. I wonder what the disability position groups wll do now...cuz we all know they are pretty liberal. She is bound to have some effect on programs...and what wonderful press for our kids...so much better than the junk we have been dealing with lately I still say ...vote your conscience...but consider DS too...LOL. I am thrilled with McCain's choice for vp! ;D I think that choosing her had more to do with her conservative views and prolife stance than the fact that she is a woman.

I watched it live today as it was announced and for me it makes me angry that McCain would think he could get the votes of Hillary just by picking a woman. Hmmm like we woman don't have brains and only vote for woman weather they are the best or not Funny thing is I asked Kodi Lee who is 19 what she thought of this pick of McCain's and her words "she is being used to win no other reason" Hmmm could be possible Anywho while I work I have the news stations on and YIKES have any of you heard how the DS has been spoken of today on all the news shows?? Just wondering cause any that are for PC would have been offended, least from what I have heard so far. Certainly proved to me that the main stream media just has no idea bout DS. K, I didn't and wouldn't have brought this subject up here BUT it was so just sharing my thoughts I agree no matter what HISTORY will be made and I for one am very glad to be part of it ;D CC ~

I know NOTHING of politics , guess cause I never really believe what they say. Now though I am deeply interested in what may happen. This is amazing, whoever wins, but I am seriously considering registering to vote and choosing McCain if only for the Ds factor. May God put the right one in charge!

I'm thrilled with his choice!!!!! I'm sure the female factor entered in when he made this selection.........BUT, if you read anything about Sarah Palin, she is one very impressive politician! She is a VERY hard worker, and not afraid to work for what she believes in. What else do we (or John McCain for that matter) want in a VP? ? Over the years, I think all presidential candidates have chosen running mates who will help them win. Why would anyone purposely choose someone who would hurt their chances of winning? I didn't see this as an insult to women........like we'd blindly vote for any woman on the ticket. I'm excited about the upcoming debates, and I think Sarah Palin will be up to the challenge. Susan

I don't believe for a moment that McCain chose Palin because she's a woman....it's far more complicated than that. I agree with Chris about the reason she was chosen. Bush won the last election largely because of his support by conservative voters.
McCain is viewed by those same voters with some suspicion, because he has supported initiatives that the most conservative voters find troubling.
Palin is a brilliant choice for addressing those concerns. It's pretty hard to attack her pro-life credentials when she chose to give birth to a child with DS.......
I look forward to learning more about her!
