I was playing with Ryan - tickling him - and he wasn't in a great mood. So he tells me "keep your hands to yourself" as he takes my hand and puts it on my lap. I start tickling him again, so he follows that up with, "listen to me!!" So I stop for a second. Then he said, "that's better". LOL - he sounds just like me Jodi

LOL - at least you know he's remembering what you are telling him!
Ellie is into telling us to "Go Away" too. I think she gets that from some other kids at daycare though.
It's so funny when they start saying things that you do . . . you go, dang, do I sound like that when I say that???!!

Sometimes it's great to hear ourselves in our children! Emily once told me she was not going to take a shower; and then added "END OF DISCUSSION". I knew exactly where she had heard that one!

This is priceless! I love hearing our kids take on us. Laura's was (and still is) - "Don't even think about it". Have no idea where she heard that... Sharon

HA! TOOOO FUNNY!!! Well, Russell would just growl LOL But Reece is always is saying my words... she goes around telling people what is and isn't "appropriate" LOL We were in Walmart once and she saw G-String undies while we were heading through the store... and she looked at them and said "Well, those are not appropriate"... LOL But... once in the car when she was years younger she was mad at something and said she was "pissed off" LOL That is DEFINATELY a term I use A.

We have the "go away" here, too, and I also don't know where he picked it up. School? Couple days ago he was up in the fort part of his swingset and I climbed up there to cut his fingernails, which is not one of his favorite tasks. He saw the clippers and pointed and said "go away!" I told him no, we're gonna get this done. So then he started adamantly signing AND saying go over and over. I won. ;D

Ellie had a good one last night. Jason and I were 'arguing' about the fact that he wasn't going to take Ellie's Lilo & Stitch movie out of her DVD player (he has hundreds of other movies to choose from). He, of course was yelling and growling at me. Ellie, from the bathtub, yelled, "You better mind, Jason!" Too cute.

I could use Ellie here... someone to just walk behind me saying, "you better mind, Tia" and "you better mind, Amber". My dad always said, "God gave you kids to embarass you by repeating your own words back.". I didn't pay much attention until one of the twins was about 5 years old and told an older lady at church that she (the twin) had to behave or "mommy was gonna sell me to the gypsies". Oops. (we used to say it jokingly, they never thought we were serious!!! Just in case someone decides to call CPS or something.. haha)

Of course, when someone else would say, "oh, your so cute I could take you home" or something to the effect, my son (older by 3 years) would always say, "go ahead, we have a spare!) mmmmm, guess they heard that from their dad??! haha
I figure we couldn't have scarred them too much. Now, when they are being a smart aleck they say (usually under their breath), "yeah, shoulda sold us to the gypsies. Bet they don't have curfews" etc. (many variations of same) So, when do your own words QUIT coming back at you? Don't know. Haven't yet.

ROFL Sheryl! My grandma used to say she'd sell ME to the gypsies, and I once said that about one of my own children.......only to get a long lecture from my mother about how inappropriate it was. I thought it was just a silly phrase by OUR family!!

I can't just let this Jodi chick take up the whole page, so I am going to talk about Ryan. Ryan and I were at his eye doctor for his checkup earlier this week. After they were done with the checkup, they repaired his glasses that he had bent a little.
When we were walking out, the doctor said, "Anytime you need straightening out, come see us". I jumped at the opportunity and replied, "ok, anytime Ryan needs straightening out, I will bring him in." She corrected her statement to apply to his glasses, but it was nice while it lasted.
