Hi Olivias got a new friend who is actually a GIRL. Have you all noticed here(those with girls) that your child is constantly surrounded by boys there entire school years. WELL Her friends name is Janelle and am gonna turn her mom onto the site here. She's 13 and was born with ds like Liv and they LOVE each other. I am taking them both in Oct to the El Capitan theatre for a party and then the viewing of High School Musical 3. lol Funny thing I spo0ke to her mom a couple times and she likes get this "CHUCKY" movies lmao. IIIIIIIIII am scared of Chucky movies but apparently her mom said she is obsessed. LOL Like this girl already.. hee. So glad Liv has a bud and her mom feels the same as I. It's all very exciting and this is one of the reasons we wanted to try out a new school which btw Liv LOVES LOVES LOVES.. (((HUGS))) Steff

I'm so glad that she is doing so well and that she has found a great new best friend! It's true about girls hanging with boys...even though Damara is only 4 1/2, at school she hangs with the typical boys at recess. I hope this changes, I really want her to find the beauty in a friendship with a girlfriend!

Steff...I think having a REAL friend is one of the most important things for our kids. A friend they can talk to on the phone and sit on the bed and share and laugh with...not just an acquaintance they see every now and then...so pursue this if Liv is happy with her.
Emily has had a best friend since 8th grade. Her friend is significantly LD and functions at a bit higher level...but in many ways they are equals. Her friend is more literate so she helps Emily with things like her My Space page, etc. But because she has a disability, too, I honestly don't think she sees Em as much different from herself. I hope it turns out the same for Liv, Steff.
