Collin is 8 and will turn 9 in February. Well he just started this week tying his shoes independently!! May not be a biggie for some but it is for us!! He is so proud of himself.
While this school year was very challenging for us behaviorally in the beginning, he has made great strides academically and in independence. I am amazed at how well he is reading, writing , doing math and beginning to work independently.
So far we have conquered the shower and now the shoes....What's next?!?!

I think shoe tying is a hard skill to learn. I finally gave up trying to teach Emily and she finally taught herself ...but I am sure she was older than 8. She wore loafers because of it for years and velcro tennis shoes. Even now she doesn't LOVE doing it and will often slip into her tennis shoes over and over with them still tied until they get so loose they fall off...LOL. Soooooo a big CONGRATS ON THAT ONE, Connie Jackie
