Hi, and welcome to Uno Mas. I'm here because my granddaughter, Abby, was born with Ds. We knew she would be so we were prepared, but we were not prepared for her to be 10 weeks early and to have a chyle thorax (sp). She weighed in at about 3.5 pounds and was 14.5 inches long. Right after birth...the first 24 hours...the doctors drained 105 CC of fluid off of Abby's chest. I'm thinking that has to be close to a pound of liquid, and that would mean she was closer to 2.5 pounds in actual weight.
Abby is now 3 1/2 years old and weighs 27 pounds. She has always been a good eater but just is not very big. Nobody who counts...doctors, parents, therapists are worried so I don't worry....well, not much. She seems very healthy so I'm ever so grateful. At about eight months she had one round with RSV, but since then the worst thing to bother her has been her tonsils and adnoids.
Abby does have a very tiny, pin sized hole in some location of her heart. I cannot remember the location nor can I remember what it's called. As her daddy said, unless she becomes a world class athlete it should not bother her.
I hope you stay with us here. These people are the most wonderful in the world.
