Hi There. Here's my quick introduction, just to kick this off: My name is Michelle McIntosh and I have a 12 year old son named Casey who has Down syndrome. This seems like a good time to insert a picture. Let me try it: Well, here's a link to his website for now: www.caseymcintosh.com I also have an 11 year old son named Luke. He is a great pal to Casey. The boys are only 17 months apart and although it was a stressful few years ... raising two infants not walking, not potty trained ... I've never had any doubt that it was the greatest choice I've ever made. They are true buddies, and both give very special gifts to eachother through their very different abilities. Here is a picture of my husband and I when we were thinner and about 5 years younger. Neither of us really look like this anymore... I wish we did. But we've turned 40 and I've been sitting in front of a computer too much. So view the pic with that disclaimer in mind. We live in So Calif with our 2 labrador retrievers, 1 irritating whiney hairless cat, and 2 dwarf siberian hamsters. I'm a homemaker and part time web-designer, and the webmaster of Uno Mas! I'll write a better intro later. Let me see if I can post one more picture before I sign off: Oh here's some pix I love of Casey and Luke modeling Uno Mas tshirts several years ago. They got sick of smiling and posing for the camera and here's what happened next: Sheesh. All these pictures are 4 and 5 years old. I guess I'd better take some newer pictures soon and update this Bio. YOUR TURN!

Okay. You are kidding, right? I think you are. But since you asked the question, and some newcomers may not know Ro yet ... I'll catch them up.
Ro is VERY popular here for good reason. She is an Uno Mas old-timer for sure. She has been a source of friendship and frivolity on this site for many years. She has an amazing knack for welcoming new people, and encouraging them to jump into the conversation.
When I think of Ro, I think of her as our daily "pep talk." or cheerleader. She was the originator of the weekly "check-in" on the Bulletin Board. She organized the Halloween Costume Contest. She is a ball of fire, and is unique character on Uno Mas that makes people feel welcome and keeps them coming back for the comraderie they find here.
She also gives great advice and insight on the challenges of being a step-mom and on issues that parents of older kids with Down syndrome have to face. That is of particular interest to me, since my son is 12 years old.
Ro is one of the original Uno Mas Gems! No doubt about that. If you don't know her already ... stick around... you will. And you are in for unique sort of entertainment and some very good information!

Hi Steff!
I fixed your post for you. Using those tags takes some practice. I'm hoping they eventually make them easier to use.
What a hilarious picture! So cute!
Hey, I hope you don't mind me designating you as a Uno Mas! Old Timer? I think you've been here for at least 2 or 3 years, havent you?

Oops, I said one of two ways, didn't I? I guess the other way is to email me with your boomspeed username and password and I'll see if I can figure out what's causing you grief. Email me, if you want : michelle@unomas21.com and I'll take a crack at it. I feel kinda responsible, since I suggested boomspeed. Michelle

You and me, Radonna .. we ae going to figure this out!
Lori, Try one of these two things:
Either go into your boomspeed account, and find your picture.... click on it, so you are looking at it full sized on your browser. Then highlight the URL that is in the address bar of your browser ... and copy it.
The address bar of your browser is the first field at the top of your browser. It's a white field that, right now, probaby says something like htttp://unomas.proboards10.com/ blah blah blah
that's the URL. When you get to your pictrue, highlight whatever is in the address bar. Hit the "Control" and "C" key (if you are using a pc) . Now you've captured the url. Find your way back to this board, and paste it in your next message.
If you want to make it clickable, click that little world icon in the tags above. and between those url brackets ... paste in the url of your picture.
Hope this makes a little bit of sense.
So anyway... how was signing up for Boomspeed? Was it complicated or what? I'm curious.

I've heard that another good image hosting site is www.boomspeed.com/They host pictures for people who do auctions like Ebay, and they do let you link to the pictures. I've read that it's easy to use and it's free. They store the picture for you, give it a url and then you can link to the url. Good Luck!

Jackie, You are a true treasure to all of us on this site. I should make up a special animated sparkling gem just for you! I know everyone on Uno Mas is so grateful to you for taking the time to share the ins-and-outs of of Emily's life as a young adult. Your stories are fascinating, entertaining and give us all a lot of hope about what is possible for our kids. Sometimes I wonder if she ever says "Mom! Stop telling those people about me!" I hope not. Because I love reading what she's up to. Emily's adventures are particularly of great interest to me, because Casey is nearly a teenager and I'm wondering what's to come next! Yesterday, Casey told me "Mom, I know what I'm going to be when I grow up." When I said "Really!? What's that Casey?" He said matter of factly "AN ADULT !" Then he got a big smile on his face, like he had tricked me with a riddle! Was it you that told that story about the "Chicken and the Egg" on the message board? I thought that was hilarious and needed to be added to the Funny Stories Page. Anyway, do you have those pictures online? Or maybe we can link to them on from the UM photo album. Let me know which are your favorites and I'll see if I can help you get them posted here. Oh yeah ... I know you've been an active Uno Mas gem for years. Is it okay to add an Uno Mas old-timer to your signature ? Or Uno Mas regular? Thanks for your great stories and wisdom! Michelle
