Hi guys....hope alls well with you all. Just had to drop in and say that we picked up Patrick's glasses today. They say he is farsighted about +3.75 and +4.75 and have written the perscription for +1.00 less in each eye. Well, you could have knocked me over---the boy actually wore them almost all day!! I hope I don't jinx it by writing this. He took them off once in the car and I was looking in the floorboard for them and not seeing them, asked where his glasses were. He said, right there and pointed in the diaper bag and sure enough, thats where they sat! I am so proud of him. On the other hand I am aggravated with myself for putting this off for a year, cause if he is wearing them so well, he must really, really need them. I was just so sure he would have no part of them....all indications pointed that way....I am happy to be wrong. He screamed ... murder when they were ordered and again today when they fitted them. But, he wanted to play in the toy room at the eye docs so, I made the glasses the condition to go play. It worked but then I was stuck in the play room for over an hour! LOL
Oh, and Patrick has made up a new word, Nokay. If everything is not Okay....then it must be Nokay (and this must include the appropriate whine).
Goodnight

OK.....I just read a post about glasses on the general subject side....so I came looking for this post to bring back up. Patrick had a rough winter, with pnuemonia? in November and the flu last month. But...things are slowing down, we have just done the ENT thing and are good for 6 months, just did the Ds clinic in January....so.....I think its finally time to tackle the eyeglass issue. I am DREADING this. So....I took my mom to chose her new glasses last week and the optician gave me lots of advice about things to look for when I get Patrick's glasses....type of material, etc. But, that shop really didn't have any frames for small children. After rereading this post, I think that I need to hit Walmart for the replacement guarantee. I am wondering, for those of you with kiddos in glasses....what type material (frames and lenses) and brand of frames do you recommend? Do you get the ones with nose pads? I saw a little pair recently with nose pads that instead had a little piece of clear plastic that attached at each side of the nose pad and went up over the nose. Seemed like that would be maybe a little more comfortable and hold the frames in place. Do you recommended the arms that wrap around the ears or try a strap? Patrick will be 3 in April, so he will still take a rather small pair. His perscription shows him to be very far sighted, about a +3.75 and +4.00 . Thanks for your info. ~Tricia Been doing some surfing on the internet and found this article: www.allaboutvision.com/buysmart/kidseyewear.htmThe article also has a gray box that links to some related pieces that look pretty relevant. This is a fun site that has an on-line vision test! library.thinkquest.org/C005949/diseases/hyperopia.htm

I was at my regular eye doc yesterday and so asked them about children's glasses. They showed me a pair that twisted and all, not sure what they were called, but they didn't come small enough for Patrick (age 2 1/2), bummer

Oh Kathleen! wow. That's alot of glasses! Do the opticians run when they see you coming? I sure don't have any insight but I am here to congratulate you and tell you what a WONDERFUL mother you are! But, you have helped me. Patrick is needing glasses and I just KNOW that I am in for trouble. So...its really great to hear about Walmarts replacement policy. Does Rhienne wear them...when hes not breaking them?
