I'm wide awake being on the other side of the world and so probably are you. Please let us know what happened and that Kodi Lee got home safe and sound. I'm thinking of you this very moment. How are earth did teachers let this happen??

You guys are all so funny! I'm trying to go to bed but keep reading all these funny things. When I am up you are all asleep, I've checked on the bottom of the page and I am the only person here on the site all alone and not even one "visitor". Think I'll go and look around some more.

Hi there CC, I just loved the brick, I sent it to my foster parents here in New Zealand who happen to be Americans and they REALLY enjoyed it. No doubt they will send it back to America and it will do the rounds again.
Have you got any more like that?

Thank you for sharing.

Hi Sharen, just saw your post about bracelets. Our son Jordan has just turned seven years old. His Grandma bought him an ID bracelet for his birthday. It is solid but looks nice like a piece of jewellery, it has his name and telephone number on it. I thought it was a great present as Jordan had been prone to wandering and went and crossed two roads on his way to see his sister who was doing her paper run. An old man found Jordan just as David (my husband) arrived from work and me arriving from the other end of the road looking for him. The old man was going to call the police but we both arrived just before he did so. He had been walking Jordan up and down the road looking for someone who might know him. An ID bracelet will prove invaluable in a situation like this. This is since we have had it ....he hasn't wandered! Kim NZ

Hi everyone,
thank you so very much for the information. I am going to follow through. I am also very interested to hear about Bob Jones putting out a curriculum specifically for children with Down syndrome. I'll check it out.
I know that shipping to NZ is a horrendous price but the materials from overseas are just so good!

Hi there and thanks for replying,
It was great to hear you mention starfall as I had already checked it out some time ago and they can't post to New Zealand. postage to NZ is horrendous. The materials sound great!
Congratulations on being a homeschool Mom.
Jordan is more interested in coloured books and I was hoping to find matching activites such as word to word in a sentence with a correlating picture. I am also looking to find pre writing materials that teach the correct strokes, many of the down loadable ones are quite cluttered.
Are there any sites that you know of that cater specifically for children with ds and educational resources that suit them?
I have just written to a place in Australia for a brochure but it is for general special needs.

Hi,
does anyone know of any sites that sell pre made reading resource materials that I would be able to purchase in order to help Jordan (almost 7) learn to read??
I have the book by Patricia Oelwin about "teaching children with ds to read" but I am wondering if there are pre made materials available any where. I also have two books by Barbara Green which are excellent.
Our school over here would not provide the sort of helps that most likely your schools do. I don't have a laminator etc and making up materials take up much time hence "pre made".
I have taught him some sight words, numbers, alphabet etc but the reading side is slow. I feel I need appropriate materials that are pre made, visual and manipulative.
As he is at home at the moment due to surgery and more to follow it would be great to get hold of something that is suited to his needs.

Those pictures are so cute Jodi and Donnita. I do find it hard to get a picture of me as I am always taking the pics. I will try and get one of David and I together.
We are still enjoying sunshine and warm weather here in New Zealand and yes Jordan did have a wet suit on (in reply to Adrian). We got to stay in a small house by the beach for a few days (it is one for people who have a family member who has a disability and you can go from time to time).
It sounds like you guys all know one another or have you all just been posting for ages??

Hi Jodi,
I had the same problem as you.
You know when it says "browse" and you pick your photo (click on it) you then "submit" it........well I couldn't find any photo that I submitted. However today when I tried one more time, there it was....you have to scroll down though to find them.
I also found one photo that had only half loaded.....for what reason I am unsure of. I also clicked on the photo gallery afterwards and there I saw them. Looking at the information below, I didn't have to "drag" only click.
As you will remember this information was sent:
Then....
Below each pic is 3 addys... an IMG one, an URL one and another one. If you drag and copy (right click) the IMG addy below the pic you want to post you can then come over to Uno. When you are in your body of text of the thread you want to post the pic in, PASTE the pic (right click) in the body of text. After you post you will see the pic!!!! Photo bucket makes it SOOOO very easy.
For those of you that use a different photo host site, it's basically the same way. You just have to post the IMG addy to the pic on the host site. I just find that Photobucket is the easiest. I have tried to use other photo host sites and it's a bit teadeous when it doesn't have to be.....
