My Christopher is on meds for severe OCD. Was a lot of trial and error to find what med would help him and very little side effects. Chris has been on Lexapro for many years now and most times it seems to help. For some reason it will be working like a charm and then BAM doesn't seem to work. So along with the Doc we have to play around with the amounts, slowly lower and then slowly up and it seems to kick in again. Basic side effects he seems to have from the Lexapro is he gets more thirsty (sp ?) and some weight gain. Kind of a price he has to pay as his OCD truly gets in the way of daily life for him.
Best of luck to you.

Chris was 4 when he got his first pair of glasses and I though OMG NOOOO way he will keep them on... I put his video on and then his glasses he took the glasses off and I turned the video off. I maybe did that three times and he then kept them on for a bit and I guess he realized he could see so much better he kept them on ;D One thing we did do was get 2 pairs as when he was young he would hide them, throw them.. and we always had another pair till the other one was found Just took a few and he then wore them all day and fell asleep in them and the first thing he looks for in the morning is his glasses! Good Luck !!

Well I am not a moderator BUT ask your friend if she is going through AOL cause for some reason AOL activation will not work here. I had to make a Yahoo email just to get an activation here. Hope that helps

FIRST LET ME Say WELCOME to UNO ;DWe were told many years back when we set this all up that at least $600,000 was needed to keep things on track for our Special Needs Trust for Chris. We live in New Jersey. I am thinking probably more is needed all these years later But keep in mind that would consist of not only insurance, but any other investments you have, such as a home, stocks, vacation home, etc. CC~

First I would like to say
WELCOME to Uno ;D
My son is 18 with the dual dx of DS and ASD. He was dx OCD many years back by a Ped Behaviorist that deals with these issues and a Ped Neurologist (sp?)
For us behavior management along with meds work most the time. Can be challenging getting the right meds and finding the right amount. But when they work they work GREAT but the two go along. Just meds alone are not the miracle cure.
Best of luck!!
