You are too funny. I think you should move to the coast too. Afterall what Brookster wants or needs Brookster should get. Am I biased or what? Kim

Hi Alisa, Yep, I joined on Facebook. A lot of my friends joined too. Thanks for showing it. John does have a son with DS. He spoke at the 2006 New York Buddy Walk and has probably been to others. Dani was selected to be on the Times Square Video that year. So we went to NY. Had a blast. If you find a link for the Ellen show--please post it. I am an Ellen fan too. Sorry Oprah fans. It is fun to meet some of you mom's on Facebook too. Kim and Dani

Hi Jackie, I just wanted to say thank you for paving the way for concerns I think many of us will have. It will be interesting to see what Miss Em decides. Keep us posted. Kim and Danikins

Thanks CC--I guess Dani is over 95% for both. I am tall--well kind of.--5 ft 9 in and her dad is tall too. I appreciate the link.
Thanks Pat, it just makes shopping more difficult. Yikes. I think she will be able to wear something and then she isn't. Of course, her pant legs are too long, but shirts fit fine.
Jess, Dani had abnormal thyroid tests so that prompted further investigations. If the thyroid tests are normal I would think all is fine. Dani was the opposite of what most kids with DS get. Her thyroid was overactive. As long as the thyroid test is showing normal I would think that Sam is fine. Does your ped have any concerns? Look at the chart Chris posted.
Thanks all. Kim

Hello, Dani has Grave's disease so she was put on a thyroid medication to stimulate her thyroid. She was not growing or gaining weight. She was 42 inches and 44 pounds about 5 months ago. Now she is 44 inches and 52 pounds. Apparently the hyper thyroid is now slow. Does it seem like she is getting over weight. She is 6 now. Her ped was concerned as she had not grown much in a year. Now, I think she is growing too much. Yikes. She is no longer on meds either. I guess we need it to be Spring so she can play and run around. That girl never stops though.
Just wondering.
Take care, Kim

Thanks for posting this. I joined and many of my friends have joined this battle.
One thing to keep in mind for those who have Facebook, is to be sure you know who you allow to be a friend. Just take care in who you allow in.
I have met some great new parent's on Facebook who share the same common bond and love--meaning our beautiful kids.
I remember what happened here about 4 years ago or so on Uno Mas--so am wary of posting Dani's pix. In fact, I briefly joined Match.com and they would not post any pix of Dani and am glad in retrospect.
Take care, Kim and Danikins

Hi Jennifer,
Just read your post. Dani doesn't have the reflux--at least not that I am aware of. She did have a sleep study and a T & A when she was three. I was a mess too. Dani rolls all over the bed. Not sure if the T & A helped as my ex left right afterwards and I have not been back to her ENT--whom is awesome. However, Dani sleeps with me now--I know--bad momma. But, she seems to rest better and moves a lot less.
So--come back here or e mail me on Facebook. Brookster will be fine. She is strong. Whew.

Hi all,
We revised Dani's IEP last week. Dani has been stuttering recently. Thankfully the ST brought this up. She said she knew it was going to happen and was happy to see it happen. I guess Dani's brain is processing faster than her mouth can speak. Just checking to see if anyone else has had stuttering issues. Dani's ST says she is teaching Dani a motion to tap on her leg when she is speaking to remind herself to slow down. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Thanks, take care, Kim and Danikins.
If anyone wants to join me on Facebook just PM me. I would love to tag, hug or send drinks to whomever. Dawn--it is all your fault--but you are the best.
