I have no words...my heart goes out to you. I agree with Mary Grace, she is lucky to have you who will not stop with the first answer.

I do feel bad for all of you, but it is somewhat funny. Obviously Reina is still too little for this, but my 2 1/2 year old has a wierd thing with poop. Anytime a diaper is changed that has poop in it, she insists on looking at it. She doesn't try to touch it or do anything with it, but if I roll up the diaper before she has a chance to look at it, I have to unroll it so she can have a look. I'm not quite sure what the obsession is.

Oh my! Too funny! Maybe she wants to plan a trip to Vegas for her birthday? Better a Vegas showgirl than a Vegas porn star.

Thank you for the update, been thinking about your family everyday. I know all too well the struggles of having one in the hospital and one at home, and being torn between them. Sometimes I think we mothers are very hard on ourselves, when our children do know that we love them to pieces. Keep strong, you will get through this.

Helmet

Hello Everyone,
Reina had her 6-month check up yesterday and now weighs 12lbs and is 24.5 inches long. Yay! The back of her head has always been fairly flat. It is something that we have been monitoring, and have always focused on putting her on her side and tummy as much as possible. However, yesterday her pediatrician gave us a referral to get an evaluation for a cranial helmet. I am not worried or stressed about it, but do plan on doing a little research. Just wondering if any of you have any experience, advice, or input?

We looked into it right after Reina was born. I spoke to two different local organizations. One was a local organization that specializes in this type of stuff that had come by my hospital room the day after she was born, and the other was California Children's Services. Both told us that we make too much money...could've fooled me! But if I remember correctly I was told that she will qualify once she becomes an adult, and we were given the advice not to put any money in her name so that she will be "poor" as an adult. So any savings that we have started for her is in my name; whereas with Violet I opened an account under her own name. I would check with either the Social Security office, or see if there is a local organization that specialized in all of this stuff.

Memory

This discussion about visual memory is so interesting to me! I have to say that there is something about the way my 5 1/2 month old Reina looks at me that makes me feel like she is REALLY looking at me (and quite frankly makes me feel very special). When any of us put our faces close enough to her she just loves to study our faces with both her eyes and her hands in such a special way. I don't remember feeling that way with my 2 year old.
I love hearing about all of your older kids. It seems that while there might be certain limitations, there are actually more advances in other areas.
