I am so, so sorry to hear. 1 in a million is pretty rare, although after being pleasantly surprised with my Reina, statistics mean nothing to me. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Glad to hear that Kaelyn is doing well!

While I realize that it is out of the areas you are considering, I have a close friend who has a 28-year-old younger brother who has DS. She has been such a blessing to me and a great resource because not only is she a great friend, she is also a special ed teacher. They are in the San Fernando Valley and haven't moved because of the great services he is receiving. I don't know where he is going, but I could find out.

Reina flipped over onto her tummy yesterday all by herself...twice! I was so happy that I immediately called my husband, her godmother, and both grandmothers. I'm not sure how big of a deal this really is, because I don't even remember how old Violet was when she turned over for the first time...but I was excited nonetheless. Since she was born she has had a tendency to turn her head to the right quite a lot, something that we've been working with to correct. Her OT said it must be working because she flipped over to her left! Yay! One milestone down, how many more to go...

My 2-year old does the same thing, very annoying. I haven't found a solution yet other than trying to keep it nice and snug, but she's backed off a bit so hopefully we're at the end of it.

Hey Stephanie - I love that Olivia can quickly diffuse the situation!
My girls are 2 years apart but are still babies at 2yrs old & 4months old, too early for sibling rivalry. However, what I can say about their interaction with each over is that Violet LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Reina. Anytime I come home from work, or anyone comes to our house she lets us know where Reina is, she won't stop until you acknowledge that yes, Reina is right there. I have a hard time getting her to stop kissing her, cuddling her, she helps me change her diaper and clothes, helps me put her in the swing. Every evening we work on Reina's exercises and OT, and Vi is always right there helping and of course has to take her turn on the exercise ball. She is also trying to teach Reina how to hold things in her hand and push buttons on the toys. I could go on and on and on. The funniest right now though is that when she tries to give her kisses on the mouth, of course Reina's mouth is open and her tongue is sticking out...well, let's just say that Vi is getting an adult kiss from a 4month old. I try to tell her to just kiss her on the cheek. I am so excited to watch them grow up together!

Oh Stephanie, I am at a loss for words. What a difficult time, try to focus on the joy of this weekend's festivites. Wow, 50 years! I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

QWERTY is when the keys are set up like an actual keyboard or typewriter (do they still make typewriters?), the name comes from the first six keys of the first row of letters which is of course q-w-e-r-t-y. I have Sprint too and LOVE it! Although I've had friends complain about it, I've never had any issues whatsoever.

My Reina is only 4 months, but I'll probably get this one now anyway. Thanks for the link.
