Hello Fellow UnoMasers! It has been a very, very long time since I have been on this board. But, I thought it might be good to share ideas from the past and present for families with younger members with Down syndrome who are spending time sheltering in place. Here are a few of mine.
The bathtub. We would gather all the kitchen gadgets that would make water time fun and add some bubble bath. After the "swim time" was over, I would sanitize all the kitchen stuff with a bleach solution. Chapter books. We would read two or three chapters of a great book each night. Both kids really looked forward to that time and the discussions, Creating Stories with toys. Our son would take a lot of toys and with his father's help, create scenarios. The most popular was the attack at the airport featuring legos, fire engine. planes, trucks, action figures. Legos. Building a tower to the ceiling was always popular. Campsites Indoors. Setting up a tent and getting folding chairs from the garage. Go from there. Baking, Need I say more? Selecting a movie for scheduled movie time with popcorn.
