They are the most precious, beautiful, and amazing little children I have ever met. If I could get prego again, I would wish for another child with DS.. does that sound weird?? hmmmm. :-)

Nope, doesn't sound weird to me. I've often said to people I wish I had 5 more Brooksters Her new thing is to give you a great big hug and pat you on the back. What a girl

Great thread.
It is basking in the moments of realizing they know and understand things you do not think they know.
It is secrets in the ear. The kisses on my hand and cheek when she senses I am sad.
It's the wide, ope, run to momma grin and hug when I pick her up from daycare.
It's the fact she is a gift from God and he picke me out of all the mommy's in the world to have the honor of being her mommy.
Of course, we could go on and on.

we knew molly was coming with the extra package. I got educated...met some wonderful moms...but still, worried myself sick wayyyyyyyyyy down deep.
Saturday, 2 weeks before the sched C-section (she was breech and didn't seem to have the power to flip herself) I woke up feeling horrible...indescribable....but something was "not right"
called the doc and set up a meet during rounds in 20 minutes, and remember snarling at the sarge to HURRY UP!! Not labor, but i was fully aware now that something weird was happening!
Left the non-driving boys at home...told them to keep snoozing...i was running in for a quick check, nothing to worry about.
Was livid by the time we got upstairs...and doc walks in and decides to check dialation first.
he finds her foot!!!! in the birth canal!!!
15 minutes later we have a baby!
That was her start...and that has been her life. When it's time for it to happen, it happens and not ONE SECOND before! There is no prep time, and no amount of cajoling, rewards, or gifts will get her to move until she WANTS to!
but when she's ready??? LOOK OUT!! nothing is gonna stop her!
I think that's the thing i love about her the most (and probably the most frustrating)
Molly the Mule...
and MB? it's molly palms...we touch her palms and it is the proverbial "crocodile belly" one time she was sitting between us, and we both took a palm...and she fell asleep SITTING UP..palms out like some meditation guru.

The best thing? Hmmmmmmm. I Would have to say the unconditional Love that is so blatantly displayed without worrying about what others think. The ability to hug so close that their bodies actually melt into yours. The positive outlook and JOY in every day. ( Most Days). Lia is so Happy when the Sun shines. It's the little things in life that make her happy. NOt the expensive toys. It's being with MOm and Dad, playing outside, reading books, watching TV in her home. Pleasing others. Also the fancy eyes. I think our kids have the MOST Astounding eyes, Cutest ears and feet. Nancy

Samantha was a great infant. She slept through the night at a few weeks old and always woke up happy. I could hear her waking up in the morning and still had time to take a shower and get dressed before I went in to get her. Not so with my boys-never slept through the night and alway woke up in the morning crying and needing immediate attention (no shower ) I had an instant support group when she was born. Through DS groups (local and online) I made friends and had playdates that I wouldn't have had if she hadn't had DS. She was my first and I didnt' have any friends with babies yet so this was very helpful. I respect all people more than I did before she was born. I don't pity people with different abilities. I might not be adopting our new son if it weren't for her. My agency does not like to adopt out of birth order but will do it under some circumstances. Our social worker approved us adopting a 4yr old because she thought having Samantha gave us extra parenting skills (flexibility, experience with special needs that can come along with adopting a grieving older child....) When your bad mouthing/complaing about your DH to a friend on the phone, your 5 year old with DS doesn't run to Daddy and tell him everything you said like my other children did.

The greatest thing about having Down syndrome is meeting so many parents. I see this as a true blessing. The next greatest thing is when I surprise people at what I can do. I really like that part! ;D........Debbie

The best part of having a child with DS is that you don't take a single thing for granted. I have 2 older children and my youngest has DS. With the other two it was like "Yay the crawled, but they are suppose to crawl, right." With Tyler it's like "Alert the media my son is AMAZING!!" I love that I cherish each and every moment of his life. It is a wonderful gift he has given me.

Patrick was the best baby ever. Never cried and slept all night. had to wake him to feed him. All the hugs and kisses and the smiles and laughter he brought into my life was heavenly and still is. He still makes me giggle with the little things he does at 24 years old. The group home he lives at right now he gets to go to dances and hes cute cause he will search the girls out till he fines one who he thinks is pretty and then "O my" he will dance the night away if he could..lol. Its little things he does that is just the cuetest things. I am so blessed to have Patrick in my life.
