Oh my, I'm glad my child is not the only one that acted like someone died when told that Santa was not ....you know what I mean! (In respect to those of you who still believe!) I had never told him one way or the other, I just let him believe whatever he wanted. He went at it whole hog of course. I had made up my mind that I wouldn't "lie" to him if he ever asked me because somewhere in the back of my mind, I can hear a one of my friends saying..."It's a pagan belief and you should NEVER lie to your children!" So last year, he was 9 and getting to that age of reason and asked me point blank. I asked him what he thought and he said "I think it's you and Dad." We went through the whole Saint Nicholas tale and all that trying to avoid the subject, but he kept asking. Finally I told him and he started crying and stormed out of the room. I felt horrible! He wouldn't speak to me all night and part of the next day. But, I was afraid to just leave it hanging and I really didn't want to lie to him. He's gotten over it, I hope! But, I doubt he'll ever forgive me! Sometimes this parenting stuff stinks! Hope someone figures out another, better strategy before Maggie asks me! Help! Robin M - Maggie's mom

;D LOL....I remember years ago...my two older girls coming to me saying.... "Mom....you just HAVE to talk to David about Santa...he was out on the playground having a fight (dave was in third grade) about Santa being real!!!!....and its totally embarrassing". At first I thought they were off base...but then I realized they had a point...it had gotten TOO real to him....but to this day I will be forever proud of my Son (who is now 30 with two boys of his own) for defending the honor of SANTA ;D Jackie

Jackie.... We also have a sign in our house that says "We believe in Santa"... On my old car I also had a Bumper sticker that said "I believe in Fairies"... and another... "Magic Happens"... DH wont let me put Bumper stickers on the "Family" car, so I can no longer declare my love of things Mythical to the world....

My oldest just turned 12 and she busted me last tooth that she lost which was about 6 months ago...The trick I used worked for alllllll of that time...I would take her tooth that she lost and place it in an envelope and write 'Kaylyn's tooth" and seal it up we would place it under her pillow and then I would get another envelope and same pen and write the same thing and plae money inside of it and then so the switch out....Well, this worked for years, and she even told me that had I not bumped my knee on Kourtney's lower bunk that night she would of never known the difference.....Well, since then she has lost one more tooth and asked me right out for the money....My repsonse was....."The gig is up, you busted me and that meand no more tooth fairy." Needless to say she was not happy with that and I gave for a few bucks anyway....But, that is how I got busted being the tooth fairy....Made 7 years without getting caught.
