OK...in the same vein...how about vintage foods...NO not the bologna growing green things at the back of the fridge...just foods you dont see around much anymore.
I would LOVE to find those little thin waffle crackers that were round and had some sort of sharp cheese as a filling. Can't remember their names to even look them up. And boxes of cereal with prizes inside...my favorites being PEP...had rings, and Rice Krispies...had a coupon to send off for puppets of SNAP CRACKLE AND POP!
(Obviously I am one who adores the movie Christmas Story...LOL)

Well Tammy...come to Amarillo...I can buy good fondue cheeses at my local supermarket. We have a cute pot we bought years ago in Switzerland ...while living in Europe! We also have a chain of good fondue restaurants called The Melting Pot...although not one in our town.

When I think of vintage food, I think of the gross foods like Vienna sausages, Spam and dried beef in a jar. I have good memories of candy...........slo pokes, charm suckers, sugar babies, sugar daddy, marshmallow ice cream cones, candy necklaces, zagnut bars, big hunks, chunky, lemonheads........ Gosh, who could forget Moon Pies, both chocolate and banana. Chris

Katie once sent me on a "vintage" quest to find Marathon Bars...turns out they are made by Cadbury and called Curly Wurly now! Not a candy I ever ate.
As an aging child I still liked to snack on jars of Gerbers baby foods...that was back when they had a ton of sugar in them...LOL...best were the plums...ice cold from the fridge...
And does anyone remember drinking Ovaltine?

I loved Pixie Sticks, too. I also liked those wax bottles with the liquid in them. I remember something like pixie sticks but it had a hard stick that you would lick and then put in the flavored sugar. I think they were called lickamade. They have made a comeback only with a different name. Ummm........wonder why they changed the name. Remember Razzles gum? Chris

Ok, Jackie, a trip to visit me is an absolute must for you!!!! In East Aurora - maybe five minutes from Toy Town Museum is a little store called Vidlers....... www.vidlers5and10.com/They have one of the best selections of "vintage" candies and treats that I've ever seen. I'll have to take a look for those cracker & cheese things next time I'm down there!!! a couple of my favorites from childhood I hadn't seen in years until walking into Vidler's.... Those flying saucer shaped things with little hard circles inside, The sugar dots on a strip of paper..... never minded eating all that paper wouldnt' quite come off the dots either! They've got just about everything you guys have mentioned here. Barb

Now...I am a expert on lik m aid. The REAL stuff came in paper packets. Lime was my fav...and you simply stuck your finginer in and licked the powdered stuff off of it. In those days we all had bright orange, green, red, purple fingers...LOL. It was very much the same stuff in Pixie Stix but in a little paper envelope. Thanks for this memory...LOL
PS....I STILL want to know about those waffled cheese crackers!!!!!!!!!!
