Courtney started her first job this week. She is going shopping for the elderly. She has to get their shopping list and then goes to the store and shops, and then brings the groceries back to them. Her aide says she did a great job and loves it. It's a couple hours a week. She said she is going to buy her dog a toy with her first pay check!!

I know that some of you here have used the Love and Learning program for your younger children with success. I was wondering if it would be good for Courtney who is 15. She knows almost 200 sight words but still cannot read the words in books, newspapers, ect. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you think it would help and if so should I start with the first set?
Thanks, Shelley

Susan, We have not had Courtney's IEP meeting yet for next year but they tried to stop her OT last year. The OT person said that she was not making any progress so there was no need to keep it up. I feel that they didn't have anyone to do it because they were short staffed. I was not happy at all but they would not listen to me. I ended up getting an order from her Dr. to continue OT twice a week, then they had no choice. Courtney also volunteers ant the local library once a week and also the thrift store. Yea I can't wait for the IEP meeting's to be over!

I buy Courtney's jeans at JC Penny. They are elastic waist and in misses sizes. I buy the petite short and they fit her in the length perfect. I also buy the capris in the summer.

I know how you are feeling Renee. Courtney never wants to go to school and almost every morning is a struggle. I take her to school and she refuses to get out of the van. I hope things get better for you and Lauren!
