Katie called today after picking up Em at art and said...that Emily has been offered a commission to do a wall mural in someone's daughters room! She said a mentor assures her she will be there to help. Em couldn't be more excited.

I think it is to be rainbows and butterflies so hope someone does go to help her lay it out...that could turn in to one big mess...LOL
I was asked to do a wall once and turned it down...not my thing...makes me nervous to paint on someone elses property.
I really like the smaller canvases Em does but she seems to be into bigger epic things these days. But as I said...a very happy woman.

I AM very proud of Emily and I thank all of you for letting me talk about her so much. I hope our life can be a bit of an inspiration to those of you with younger kids. Afterall Emily is really just an ordinary person who has DS and has had a great life so far. We all start out on sort of the same path and then manage to go in many different directions. Sometimes we choose our path and sometimes we are forced by circumstances to take some detours.
Our life and Ems have been a good combination of both. And like everyone else out there there have been both good and bad times. However I think the good has truly outweighed the bad...our whole family has great attitudes when it comes to hardships and basically we are a creative bunch when it comes to problem solving. This new path of her living apart from me has been one of the hardest I have gone down so far. I am adjusting ...but slowly. I worry about her presence in the life of an already busy and stressed out young family. Apparently I worry about it a lot more than any of them do...LOL...cuz they pretty much tell me to ..."get over it" ;D But once a Mama...always a Mama.
I will fill you all in on this new venture when I find out more about it.

I'm so very, very happy for Emily and her new project sounds wonderful. Every time I read about Emily or I read something by Debbie, I just feel such joy! I can see Abby doing something with herself as a young woman. It may not be art or joining in at Uno Mas, but I know she'll do something and it just makes me smile...with tears in my eyes!
Please, the next time you see Emily, tell her she has one huge fan of her art living in Tucson!

I think that is really wonderful for Emily. I would be excited too.
Char, my parents were planning to come out to Tucson, but, backed out when they found out another couple they have been friends with for a long time were not coming. No, I was to stay with my sister. I would love to come out to Tucson again, but, a friend of mine is not living there anymore. He lives in Sullivan, Ill. now.
