I'm amazed that Brook can manage the O - that's a single, well-controlled circle (our therapists say "circle.... stop!" with great emphasis on lifting the crayon at the "stop!"). Bravo, Brook!! Stevie can only manage that occationally - usually its "circle, circle, circle..." or 2/3 of a circle with a too-soon "stop!" And she can draw a line "across" and another one "down" but don't ask her to make a cross Can you imagine what it will be like trying to teach her to write "Stevie" ? Crazy - even in cursive.

I LOVE the little e!!! You may just have to have the name spelling changed!

Brook is so pretty! Give her time and she will write out her full name. I think Brook without the e is just fine. This way, she has a more original name.

wtg Brook! (without an e ;D)
For what it's worth...I think printing is an "art"...it is really hard to print. And wouldn't ya know it...just when Em comes along they decide in schools that printing is the way to go because of techincal labeling. Turns out when she hit the school system they only spent one year teaching cursive and wouldnt ya know it...cursive came easy to her and was quite legible. However as soon as they stopped teaching it...she stopped using it...and reverted back to her very poor printing handwriting. I am thinking now about suggesting to her arts program that they try some "lettering" with her to improve her handwriting. I think from what I have heard that most kids with DS have a much easeir time with their cursive but are rarely given much time to develop it.
