Since Debi brought this up I decided to go back to work on it myself in terms of Emily. Apparently Katie and Em discussed apartments last night and Em took the bait...but says she wants to live in a house because of the privacy?
Anyhow it was the first time in quite a while that Katie didn't get the 'furrowed brow' response to this. Katie and I chatted quite a while about it this AM. It IS time...past time really to be thinking about this. But a number of problems. Katie wants her close by to make it convenient for her and that I understand. Problem is Katie lives in a newer part of town and not on a bus line. The special transporation (the van that will go door to door) only will operate in neighborhoods on a bus line Katie says Em NEEDs her own transportation because that is the biggest hassle now in their lives. Austin is a spread out town and most of Emily's activities are 'up North' which is almost a 20 mile drive and up to an hour commute in rush hour.
Also right now we can't manage another home (we already have two at the moment...LOL and are feeling the pinch big time). For us if we could afford a smallish home it would be a good investment but thats not an option at the moment. There are a number of good plans and we need to look into them including the "a house of your own' low interest loan program. Sigh...looks like we are starting out again dealing with agencies and other entities but must say we have had a nice respite for a few years. So cross your fingers that we might be making some headway. Debi...I am sure Kaite will be right there with you in angst... having Emily leave after having 'mothered?'...'sistered?' her for over 4 years now.
