I know its a little early in the morning for politics, but another DS group sent me this article from the Huffington Post. The writer, Erik Nelson, is commenting on the reason behind Sarah Palin's resignation. It is so mean-spirited and demeaning to special needs children that I am completely dumbfounded! I understand the writer has taken this trash off the website and issued an apology, but, man, this can't be let go.....I am furious! No matter what you think about Sarah Palin, this article is an outrage! You can read more about it at www.patriciaebauer.com.

Disgusting, and certainly in no way funny. I cannot believe the ignorance of some people. It makes me want to cry.

Yes, that should never have been posted. But at least it was taken down immediately and replaced with an apology. Hope somebody or maybe even somebodies learned something. Meanwhile, I still don't know why Mrs. Palin is resigning. I'm afraid she may have yet another problem lurking, rumors about how her house got built. Seems to me Alaska politics are all too interesting. I don't think I much care for Mrs. Plain's political philosophy, but I wish her and her family, especially Trig, well. -- Bob

Bob, Sadly, the only thing that usually comes out of something like this is short -termed outrage. A few days of comments of how bad it is....blah, blah, blah..and then its open season again. From Ben Stiller, Robert Downy, unfortunetely, President Obama, this jerk, Erik Nelson, and others who make fun of the most fragile of our society, it is disgraceful. It's discrimination at its worst.

I am not sure that some people will ever 'get it' or that we will ever develop shells against it. Just yesterday on facebook a friend made a comment about 'taking the short bus'.
Now this article was done intentionally with malice. I really think that for many people it will have to be a "walk a mile in my shoes" for them to understand and stop this trash.

Jackie I have to strongly disagree with you on this, I do not think President Obama's statement on Leno was in any way intended to or was in the same tone as this article. BUT I do agree with you that many unless they live it or walk a mile in ones shoes as you put it will just not get it... Honestly I heard Palin's talk and think I knew what she meant that yes this world would be a better place if only people in general could be like our kids. NO she did not mean she wanted a world populated with ones with DS but if people in general could have the GREAT qualities of ones with DS yes this world would be so much of a better place. Lease thats how I took what she said. I honestly could see where people would not get what she meant without knowing one with DS. Not saying this article was right in any way, matter of fact it made me sad BUT I can see where what she said was not understood by ones that have not experienced it. I wish Palin's son well as I do all her children Palin has quit her job as Governor but seems to have not quit being out there on all the news shows I hope she takes a loooong break and just attends to her family. From one that has experienced having one with DS, Trigg could use his Mommy being home if she can afford to be home. Just my thoughts CC~
