Hello...couple of questions for moms of older kids!
First - how tall is your post-puberty daughter?
Second - did any doctor ever tell or suggest to you that you use the drug Lupron to delay puberty to allow more time for growth?
Third - if any doctor did suggest that or would suggest that, would you consider it.
If your child is 4'8" or 4'9" - do you think it affects their life?
Thanks for everyone's response....in advance....
Debbie

Hi Debbie! At Emily's last check up, she was about an inch short of 5 foot tall. Then, the doctor said she thought Emily was finished growing. So, our focus now is to maintain her current weight, since she will not be growing UP...only out! So far, it's working ok. She has been 99 lbs for the longest time. I'm a bit "disappointed, because I always assumed she would be 5 foot tall. Not sure why it mattered to me....just did.
No doctor has ever mentioned anything about giving her injections, etc to help with her growth. We did investigate the idea of using growth hormone many years ago.....not to increase her height, but because we had heard that it was helpful with stimulating cognition. Went to an awesome endocrinologist, who talked to us at length about it.....and the risks were simply not worth taking. (Increased risk of Diabetes and leukemia)

Is Emily finished growing then? I kept growing until I was over 20. Got an extra whole inch after high school. My husband, oth, stopped growing after 8th grade. Still 4' 11 isn't bad - I have two sisters and an aunt that height I wonder how Stevie will do - so far, she's by far the tallest for her age. She's huge to me, wearing 4T clothing when she turned 4, and size 9 shoes

Chris, I'm hoping she isn't finished growing yet......I think the doctor was thinking she was finished because her height over the past 2 yrs has been very slow. We'll see!!

Funny do you remember, I know it was many many moons back that we all met up and your Em was so much taller then my Chris and now he is a little over 5'2" LOL who would have thought "If your child is 4'8" or 4'9" - do you think it affects their life?" NOPE I do not think it would CC~
