Colin and I are not thrilled about this but it has to be done. He has this fatty tissue thing, it has a medical name but I forget what they call it. Anywho its on his lower back and gotten very very big and he complains daily about it The Dermatologist (sp?) is the one doing the surgery and they want to see him again before scheduling the surgery. They are soo soo busy that when I called the other day the best they could do was end of September for appointment I think I will call again tomorrow and see if I can get any sooner visit as today he and Colin were riding bikes and it seems for some reason when he bounces around it gets bigger and very red Chris even said to me 6 times tonight "Chris back doctor" For him to say that believe me guys it is bothering him Last time we were at this Doc she said if it gets bigger and bothers him it needs to be removed. Well seems the day has come If it were me I would be well what ever, KWIM but surgeries of any kind and Chris just don't mix well. I personally was in my 30's till I ever needed any type of surgery, C~Section when I had Kodi Lee. Poor Chris has had more surgeries then he should have at the age of 16, KWIM? CC ~

CC,
I'm frustrated for you, having to wait until the end of Sept for an appointment, then who knows how long after that they will schedule surgery? Yup, I'd be calling again as well, especially since Christopher is expressing discomfort so frequently.
Ethan almost never tells us when he's feeling bad, we just have to figure it out. At least you know what is bothering him, and it didn't stop him from enjoying his camp.
Let us know what you find out....

THANKS gals I did call today and will be bringing Chris in this Wednesday. The Doc can't see him but the Physician Assistant will and they tell me that the surgery will need to be done by a plastic surgeon not the Dermatologist (sp?) as I originally thought. At least we can get this ball rolling as I already know he needs surgery so I expect that Wed. I will walk away with a number of who will do the surgery. Poor kid had a neurology (sp?) appointment today for his OCD stuff and first thing he did was lift up his shirt to show the Doc the big bump on his back. I told Chris sorry but wrong doc, man I know this must be really hurting him to even bother showing anyone and telling us about it. I have no idea how this goes and how they cut it out but I will find out very soon, hopefully this is a in and out type of procedure CC~

sorry to hear that Chris faces yet another procedure... but glad that they could get you guys in much sooner than originally scheduled. If what he has is like what I just had removed - ginormous fatty tumor on my right forearm - the dermatologist used a local anesthetic after using a topical anesthetic ( what a sweetheart this doc is!!! didn't even want me to have to feel the needle for the local! ). All was done in the OR but I was out of there in about an hour and went back to work! Lucky me, had it done during my lunch hour since I had to work at the hospital that day!
I'll be crossing my fingers that they can do something like that for Chris, I know how much you dislike the thought of a general anesthesia!

We have an appointment with the Surgeon on Tuesday Sept 1. Turns out he has two things now on his back One they think is a cyst (sp?) and the other is very large and both need to be removed. They are both on the center lower back spine area. They tell me he would have to be put out because he has to be totally still for this and the only way to keep him totally still is to be put out. The Dermatologist office was a bit shocked how big it has gotten since she last saw him and confirmed these need to be removed now. I and Colin HATE yet another surgery for our Character but it needs to be done. The good part is it turns out the surgeon that will be doing this was who handled his Hernia surgery and we loved that guy Chris has been sick most of this week with a 102 fever and a very nasty cough so he will have to get over that before they do the surgery. Life is never dull I tell you... CC ~

Sorry he has to have another surgery. I know how it is to keep thinking your child is done having to go through that and then something else crops up. But at least he will feel better afterwards!

We have a family in our town that has just been through the removal of a benign tissue thing on their 12-year-old's back. Would be happy to put you in touch if this is the same thing.
BTW he came through the surgery with flying colors.
