not sure what to say.
Tomorrow night I have the opportunity to talk to a group of moms from our preschool about Adison and what it means to have DS. I am so excited for the chance to teach a part of our community about DS. We started preschool last week, and when I say we I mean all of us. Austin and Ashley are 3 1/2, so it really started because of them, but I decided to do a parent nursery school, so I go with them and work a table or something. The best part is, Adison gets to go too, which is so good for her. She is only 27 months old, but this is a great experience, and we only go 1 day/week for now. Anyway, as a parent nursery school, there is one teacher and about 3-5 moms that work each day. We have a mandatory meeting every month, and the director asked if I'd like to talk about DS a little. Most of the moms/kids, don't really know what it means, and what it means for them. Here is my problem ......I am a horrible public speaker. I get very nervous and I talk really fast and forget to say things, or they just don't come out right . This is such a great opportunity for me to inform moms who will hopefully pass on the appropriate info to their kids. To get other families to understand and really know Adi at such a young age can be so beneficial to her as she starts school and stuff. What do I say? What shouldn't I say? I want to inform them, without being all "soap boxy". The families that go to school on the day we go have already met her and see that she is alot like their kids, just a little louder, a space "invader", and she doesn't really talk (not words anyone can understand, anyway). She acts more like the 15-18 month olds. Any advice? Did I mention I am so excited (and a little nervous) to begin this process for her. ;D
