Well, we had our version of a Buddy Walk this past Saturday. After a week of rain, we were very lucky to have a nice sunny morning/early afternoon. The event ran from 10am to 2pm and the rain held off until 2:01pm!!! I kid you not, we were packing up the last of things when the first drops hit!!! Our parent group does an event call "Wheels Around the Park - A Down Syndrome Awareness Event". Due to some issues with being too close to the Niagara County Buddy Walk, we aren't able to do an actual Buddy Walk per NDSS. We had the mascots for the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and Buffalo Bisons (minor league baseball team), games, prizes, clowns, facepainting and balloons galore. It was funny when we got back to the start, our MC who is a local newsanchor was standing there greeting everybody. Alison took one look at her and said" I know you! You the TV news lady!" Usually Alison has trouble placing people when she sees them outside of their usual setting so I was very impressed. Here's a couple of pics...... Barb

Ours was this past Saturday and even tho the morning was dreary, it was still fun! Kaelyn was kind of shy/grumpy through most of it. Started screaming after they put her medal on her at the finish line!! But, we had fun. I'll post pictures soon.

;D ;D Yea Buddy Walk pic's ;D ;D I have to tell a quick story So in honor of National Ds Awareness Month I have been wearing one of the many Buddy Walk t~shirts I have collected from friends all around. I have had sooo many people ask what a Buddy Walk is Silly me thought everyone knew. I have spread the word many times this first week. The elderly man at the garage sale, the nice lady in line at the post office and even customers who come to the office ;D Then the meat man at the grocery store said to me and Brook, Happy Ds month Brook ;D I was so happy he knew, I dug through my purse to find the ribbons Mary made for me to pass out around town. He pined it to his smock and said he will wear it all month and tell all his friends what it represents. ;D Spread the love people. It's National Ds Awareness month ;D ;D

Well, thanks for adding your great photos. Lovely shirt, ribbons, and toes. Now, maybe I'm reading too much into sequence of photos, but looks to me like very good of dad to comfort that little cutie after you sent her up in that big, scary balloon. Usually it's the other way round. And reason generally good to have two parents. If all we had was mommies, then we'd all be sissy boys. But if all we had was daddies, then we'd all be dead. -- Bob

Of course, it stopped raining as soon as we laft, and the sun came out again.. go figure.. Ah well, a fun time was had by all, especially Ayden. Here are a couple of picrures of the little man~ This is our guest speaker and self advocate Brad Hennefer www.golfforlife.org/I was really suprised at how tall this guy is! And what a golfer!

This year was second we've missed in a row, but the several we went to before that were lots of fun. Roanoke Virginia has a small walk, but it's at a great, accessible playground and there are blow-up play things as well and a potluck. I miss it.
