Just want to let you know what Luke did yesterday. We made apple pies, as soon as I put them in oven I left the house and my DH promised me to watch them. Some how they burned and when I came back, I was very upset that the pies are not what I expected. We talked and Luke was around us, so he came to the kitchen table and throw our burned pies on the floor. Oops..! That was the same I wanted to do. He made me LOL and I was not upset any more. Even Luke is not taking very well, he understands everything! Also, I learned my lesson do not let DH to watch the pie! LOL

Alice,
My husband was in charge of Thanksgiving dinner this year. While he basically had to follow a schedule of putting things in the oven and taking things out of the fridge, he was in charge. We have a rather formal Thanksgiving and it is a very cherished holiday. The reason he had to this was because I was flat on the couch with a back injury. He did an excellent job - even tented the turkey so it would be the perfect color.
Alice, I want my kitchen back. He's starting to rearrange the refrigerator. He's very slowly trying to take over my turf. Sure, last week it was hot dogs. This week, tacos. I even found him reading the directions on a dehydrated soup package. I was called to dinner and my son with Ds was serving the salads the two of them made at the grocery store salad bar.
If he figures out how to dress himself, I'm in big trouble.
Sorry about the pies.

Oh no, MB, you're going to be replaced! LOL!
Ummm, here's my take on the whole thing, and this is coming from the kitchen queen - I'd probably love it for awhile, because goodness knows that once the novelty wears off, the kitchen will be yours again.
And, failing that, KICK THEM OUT!!!! ROTFL!
Alice, Luke obviously knew the pies were not the quality he has come to expect from his mom, and therefore probably inedible. I'd consider it a tribute to your cooking!

C-Bean,
My first child was born shortly after Christmas. My heart used to break for kids I knew whose parents took them out to eat on Christmas eve. What kind of dysfunctional family goes out to eat on Christmas eve to some sterile restaurant?
That Christmas I was pregnant, I simply could not get close enough to the sink to cook or do any dishes. My back was killing me. Upset, I let my husband talk me into going to a beautiful restaurant with a view of about a million Christmas lights following Christmas eve Mass.
Twenty years later the view is still spectacular and the food declicious! And, my back hurts again! Gotta go make my reservation, I'm sure they are wondering why I haven't called!

Jackie,
It never ceases to amaze me the beauty of those lights. Whenever I am visiting someone out of town, they inevitably have a framed poster or post card displayed of the lights.

LOL Alice, you have one "in tune" little boy!!! He knows a good pie from a bad one! I had a giggle at having hubby watch the pie... I have had to hurry and run out of the house a couple times and Kevin is usually good with watching or listening for the dinger to go off, but a couple times he's fallen short LOL! We've had a couple burnt things. MB... you crack me up! Actually, my husband and I LOOOVE to cook together actually. Although I do love to bake and get in there without him, we tend to cook and bake together...I love it! His parents are the same way! You know the old saying....heehee A.

My DH is a very good helper in the kitchen (and every where), that was his first time to watch pies and also he had too many things to do besides just watching pies. I was mad at him, because he did not listen to me that we should put pie in the oven after I came back from Gym. Poor guy – he was very sorry. We almost never argue and that time it was about to have a conflict, but Luke made us laugh and we stopped argues. Conflict was vanished! He putted his final point about a bad pies argument. He is smart, is not he? The important thing - he amazed us with his attention about what is going on around him, and we sometimes underestimate him because of his speech delays. I am glad that you like my story. Alice
