Ok...I dropped my old fashioned Samsung slide phone in the dishwater for about 15 sec...but...thats all it took. It is now siesta ing in a bag of white rice and I have my fingers crossed. But after going in our Sprint store and checking out all my options discovered that both Em and I can get new phones. I am maybe thinking about the EVO 4G...but for her a simple one that can text.
Do any of your kids have a phone that texts and is easy to use too? Emily has only used this one cell phone for over 6 years and since I dont live with her hate to get her one she might have trouble with. She texts on Katies phone when they are on trips and has wanted her own texting phone for a long time so I think that will be fun...but...want to make sure its not too hard to use for its 'intended purpose'. We intend to remain with Sprint.

Jackie, If you don't want to change Emily's phone, you don't have to. I bought a en v2 phone from Ebay for my nephew. The en v3 they were selling made you buy internet package with it. (My bro is Not paying for an internet package)(No, he does not use Sprint )So he got a free phone when he signed up, but he used the en v2 I bought him. Other than that, I'm too old to know the good phones out there ;D. Hope others can help you. Pat

her phone right now is just fine...she doesn't use it all the time so it's lasted. But it is so old its not set up to text...so since I find texting hard and not really to my taste I am not good at deciding which phone might be easiest for her to use to do this.

Laura has a Samsung Alias II (verizon). It is a two way phone, flips open for use as a regular type phone, or you turn it on the side and open it, and there is a full keyboard for texting. The keyboard is some type of LED thing that changes from numbers to letters depending on how you open it. She loves it, very easy for texting, which she loves to do!

I would definitely go with a QWERTY keyboard. I love my blackberry. It has held up, been very reliable, and of course we are with Sprint and my service is always excellent, especially when I'm traveling for work!

QWERTY is when the keys are set up like an actual keyboard or typewriter (do they still make typewriters?), the name comes from the first six keys of the first row of letters which is of course q-w-e-r-t-y. I have Sprint too and LOVE it! Although I've had friends complain about it, I've never had any issues whatsoever.

ok...got it...added another word QWERTY to my techno vocab...LOL...
What I bought yesterday would work well for Em...passed for the time being on a smart phone and just bought a Samsung Remarq...it was free with my plan...and now I am texting (slowly) with the rest of the world. I think Em would do find with this phone too.
