happen. Man oh Man this has never happened before. The MRI has been scheduled for months now for this Friday at Columbia Hospital in NY City. Well seems the Doctors all agreed it could be done even though Chris has a pace maker and the hospital scheduled it. BUT it seems the radiologist refuses to do it and says its against Hospital policy to ever let one with a pacemaker in for an MRI. I have been getting calls from all involved and still am not sure if this will happen this Friday now or not. All the Doctors involved and there are a few are not happy with the Hospital and the Hospital are not happy with the Docs and I sit here waiting to see how this will all play out and if Friday will be a go or not Honestly I am a wreck about the whole thing and at this point I just want it over with. They tell me it has to be done but now the MRI department is saying WAIT NOT doing it. So one neuro (sp?) surgeon and 3 heart docs are arguing with the hospital. None of this makes me feel good about any of this CC ~

I'm so sorry that there's so much controversy about this procedure. It's hard enough when everyone's in agreement.
Please continue to keep us posted.

MRI has officially been canceled for tomorrow. Not sure what the next step is as the Surgeon feels Chris for sure has a tethered (sp) spinal cord and the only way to know 100% is to do an MRI. He said he could possibly do exploratory surgery but he would rather not do that. All the docs involved feel the risks to doing the MRI with a pacemaker are worth taking to deal with his back issues to find out what is what and then do the corrective surgery. The hospital at the moment is saying NO to much risk.
Colin and I are like OMG who is right and we just pray God answers our prayers and points us in the right direction.
Thanks for letting me share.

They are all now talking about doing a Myelogram if the hospital will not approve the MRI. I should know in about a week or so. Honestly at this point I am not sure what is the right thing to do All I know for sure is that my boy is suffering from pain and that I love him and I want the pain to stop NOW !! I truly pray God points us all in the right direction. CC ~

Prayers from us for the right decision to be made for Chris, I hate the thought of him being in pain! What about a PET scan? Is that a possibility? I know it costs a lot more than an MRI, so there may be insurance issues I really wish the insurance companies would think about something other than their bottom line, which seems to be the case more often than not. Please keep us posted on the process. ((HUGS))
