and I quote "I tired you tell me what to do. I 18. I be 19 September 12. I move out. I go to apartment. All by myself. Not you. You not tell me what to do at my apartment. You not come". All of this was said why walking from my bedroom, through the living room, and up the stairs to her room. You may wonder why the tirade? I said "Laura, it is time for bed". Sharon ( and yes, I still love the backtalk )

OMG! Angela says stuff me me like that all the time! She started at 13!!! About a year ago she said, "Mom, I have bad news." "What's that?" "I'm moving far away. You're not coming. I'm having my own apartment. With Adam. Not you. Not Dean. Not the dogs. Just me......and Adam." "Where's Adam sleeping?" "In his room! Duh!" "Well, ok then. Make sure you talk to Adam's mom about this, you know, since he's TEN!"

I have such a big smile on my face. I can just hear her now. I'm glad Abby and her cousins are little. We have a long way to go before that happens.

I'm pretty sure Kaelyn has said similar things to me in her babbling, I just can't understand it yet! Ha! One day she came up to me and I swear she said "I've been thinking". I'm sure you have!

Yes...how funny!!! And another funny thing...if any of our other kids talked like that to us...we would probably hit the ceiling instead of breathing a silent "YES!!!!!!" LOL.
I remember when Em was in HS and she was a bit miffed with me (she was such a compliant kid that she rarely crossed me...) and she went to her room and slammed the door and I could hear her call me..."Bit*ch MOM"....LOL. Now where she got that I don't know...but that was really a "YES" moment for me. Its just all relative, isn't it.

Thanks eveyone for sharing these great moments! I can't wipe the smile off my face. I am wondering though, is it just the girls that "talk back". Which would be pretty typical LOL! You know us females ; ) Please keep the stories coming!

Ummm, no darlin', it's not just the girls. Ethan tells me to "go to my room" when he's mad at me. If I turn the television off when he's watching it (because it's bedtime or something) he'll say "Don't TOUCH the TV". Yesterday's episode consisted of a scenario where I did something he didn't like (can't recall what) and he said "Shame on you! You know better than that!"
ROFLOL!!!!!

I do love the "yes" moments, as Jackie calls them (great name). I still remember the day Laura gave me a no nonsense look and said "don't even think about it". She was 6, and it was all I could do to get out of the room without laughing.

AWESOME!!!! I love it.....
Russell has never spoken but a couple times it "looks" he is telling me off...Kevin and I giggle and I say "I think he is mad at me and telling me off"...LOL He shakes his head, grumbles and blinks to talk.....it's a hoot!
Another time he came to me and did the sign for apple, which meant he was asking for Applesauce. This was VERY out of the norm for him to initiate and ask for something. I told said "Ok, you want applesauce, hold on a second"..and Russell proceded to get closer and closer and closer and closer until he was RIGHT in my face while doing the apple sign. Kevin and I laughed and I told Kevin....he was YELLING at me to get him the applesauce now and that was the ONLY way he knew!! To get closer and closer! GENIUS!
