So FINALLY we got around to taking Em to get a new texting phone. I have posted here that she loves doing the texting on Katies Blackberry when they are on the road. We wanted to wait until we could be around her a few days to make sure she knew how to work it.
We are all on Sprint so took her to the Sprint store and had a really helpful person work with her and let her try them all and pick out the one she wanted. We opted NOT to get a smart phone as she already has an iTouch and a PC of her own. (But while there I decided to use MY upgrade and got the EPIC!!!!). After trying a whole range of smaller phones Em quickly picked out the Remarq which oddly was the only FREE upgrade phone...LOL. It is a small almost square one that easily fits her smaller hands and is a beautul aqua blue color. And...she was texting away as we left the store.
And like many families we all spent the weekend texting each other from across the room...LOL. Marnie says Em even texted her in Virginia in the middle of the night. I love it because her PC has been down so have missed her emails. I think anything we can do for our kids to encourage communication is worth the effort and the coins. Time will tell if this is enough phone for her and her day may come for an android or iphone.
It really pleases me to find something like this silly phone that turns her on...I have given her many things through the years that I think might please her only to have her lay them aside and never use them. So when something pleases her as much as this it warms my heart. A small thing in the scope of everything...but BIG for me.
Now if I can just learn MY phone...must say texting is a big yawn for me...and unfortunately have discovered the voice text feature so not practicing the keyboard that much.
