if there were an 11th commandment it would be that kids with down syndrome must have pizza to survive! victoria will do almost anything with the promise of pizza. so i had the school make a picture of a pizza. with circles for pepperonis, when victoria completes a task, she gets a magnet or velcro pepperoni to put on one of the slices (there are three pepp per slice) she has a good behavior slice also, exclusively for good behavior pepperonis. when she has all the pepp filled in she gets a pizza dollar and brings it home and buys a pizza from mom. we just started this and it is hit and miss (because the school just didnt get it at first, they would just promise i would buy a pizza, instead of a tangible pizza dollar) it is working better now and victoria earned her first pizza today. schedule the pizza out so it takes her a whole week to earn a pizza so that shes not gorgeing on pizza through the week.

Oh, we never taught Kaelyn what to call pizza, but one of her first words was "pizza pie". Not sure where she picked that up, but yes, she will eat ANY kind of pizza! I like the incentive idea with the pizza!!

I think that's an awesome idea!!! Sounds like some real concrete and imediate positive reinforcement. Kathleen LOVES pizza. She actualy eats it a lot for breakfast in the form of english muffin pizzas and flatbread pizza even on whole grain bread. I ahve to add that she also loves it dipped in Ranch dressing. Mary Grace

A great idea!! That would have Laura doing almost anything to get her pizza.
We have also gone through the dipping pizza in ketchup. Nasty looking, but she loved it. Now she is out of that for the time being.
As an aside.......when Laura was little, she couldn't say "pizza". She would say "girl thingy". Don't need to go any further.
