;D ;D ;D ;D ;D One happy and proud Momma here ;D ;D ;D ;D ST: Articulation: points 1-10......Brook 7 Picture pointer: points 1-10.......Brook 8 Verbalization: points 1-5........ Brook 3 Not bad for a kid who has NEVER had formal ST in her life!! PT: Participation: 1-100 points....... Brook 79 Travel: 1-100........ Brook 100 Maintaining & Changing Positions: 1-100 Brook........77 I do have to tell a very funny story though. So, when Brook is tested I sit in the corner and take "notes". Always have, always will. So here I am sitting and on one of the tests I guess you have to get 5 wrong in a row before you can stop the test. Even if it is a fluke and the kid is just picking random pictures correctly. Anyway, Brook is at the table w/ teacher. She is to point to the picture that best describes what teacher is saying/talking about. I'm hearing these words..... (yes I worte them down b/c I just could not believe what I was hearing) LOL (the * means Brook totally guessed the right picture and the test had to continue) dental monument emerald salmon* surgeon medical* midevil dome infantry floral* novel voyage veteran* abode maternal infermary valocity .....and then I just started laughing my head off. I said, "This is crazy!! I don't even know what 1/2 these words are. This is just total guessing!" And thats when teacher told me that the kid has to get 5 wrong in a row before the test can stop. Of corse I said "Were going to stop now b/c this is just silly!" She agreed I mean, come on, the kid is 5 yrs old LOL

You must be sooo proud!! Great Job Brook!!! I always sit on on testing too. It's good to know exactly what the tests are "testing". Mary Grace

Wow! Sounds like she scored very well! Way to go! Sean is only 2 and we've not ever discussed or been introduced to any of this kind of testing. I'm not sure I understand what all this is for? What does it tell you? What do you get out of it? At what age do you start testing? Paige is 5 and we're getting ready to go to orientation for kindergarten, so I'm wondering if these tests are also for typical children? Just wondering

They don't test typical kids the way they do IEP kids. They just look at the progress of the "typical" kids through school and if a test is needed then they will test accordingly (sp)
Here in the US they start testing on our kids at age 3 when pre~school is coming about. They are just looking to see if they qualify for school based services (PT,ST,OT etc)
