I just had the most wonderful week with Emily in Austin. If you are on FB you might have seen some of the pics even tho I posted them sideways...LOL.
For those who dont know Emily is part of the ARC of the Arts program in Austin TX. She goes 4 days a week for a day of art training. One of the ARC's fundraisers is a mega thrift shop. Once a year the artists don garmets from the shop...create accessories and put on a fun fun style show. This year it was down on 6th street which is the local club and fun scene in Austin. It was in an old art gallery/bar and had a local band and well known newscaster as MC. Emily looked great and did a terrific job. At the entrance was her HUGE parade painting which I finally got to see in the flesh! Afterwards Katie and I took her clubbing along 6th and had a great dinner.
I forgot to mention that on the way to the venue for rehersal we dropped by Claires and she had her ears re pierced (her decision). Last time she had it done she was a teen and didnt take care of them and they grew back.
All and all a very satisfying visit even though I will miss her bday next week. Pics soon...you all know its an effort for me...LOL

no pictures yet but look at this arcofthearts.com/2011/04/30/thanks-for-coming-to-the-show/ it is a video they made to play while the fashion show was happening but couldnt cuz of tech difficulties. They posted it on their website afterwards as a thank you...just love it and no I dont know which feet are Emilys but think probably the greyish tennis shoes cuz they shot it one day in art with everyone in grotty clothes.

I tried to put these 3 pics in a single email...but I have so much trouble with photobucket that I decided to do it the easier way. You cant really tell from the pics but Emilys make up and hair were done by a professional theatrical person. I about died when I went in and saw they had put her hair ...up. NOT her best look...but they did a great job and with her hat it was perfect. Her blouse and skirt were from the ARC thrift shop and her belt was a mans necktie.

funny you mentioned the hair...I liked it too. But when we first walked in about had a stroke cuz in the shadows I could see that they had her hair UP. Em's head is small and with her hair up it looks even smaller and not her best look especially with her weight as it is. But...when they put that hat on with the tendril hanging down it was spectacular if I do say so myself ;D But since it was done with some braids and many bobby pins...doubt we will ever get it this way ourselves again...LOL
