Was at Christopher's Neuro Doc on Friday and long story short, his cat scan shows that My sweet sweet Character has had silent strokes in the past I just wanted to share with my friends here that would understand my feelings. Chris sadly has had way more health issues then anyone at his age should have to deal with. I LOVE him so much and I pray he has no more of them. CC ~

Oh wow, Christie! I am so sorry to hear that. Christopher has certainly had more than enough health issues, and didn't need this for sure. Was he having symptoms that led to him having a CT Scan? Praying he never ever has another.

Well, that's not good. Do they know why he had the strokes? Is it related to something that has been dealt with or is Chris in for more testing and such? Hope the former and wish you all well. -- Bob

CC, I'm so sorry to hear that. I would like to share our experience with you. Kathleen had several strokes ( A couple of them very severe) when she was 5 yrs old. Also a couple of silent ones before she was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease. Have they given you a reason for the strokes. Do they know approximatly when they occured? What other tests have they scheduled to figure out why? Just a few questions that come to mind. Please keep us posted. Here's my email if you would like to talk. mgrace5@nycap.rr.com Mary Grace

Aw CC! I am sorry to hear that. It is a tough thing for a momma to hear that she's missed something healthwise in her kiddo. But you can't know everything. I know that you know that it's not your fault for missing this, but if you struggle with it anyway - thinking that there must have been signs that you'd missed, second-guessing your vigilance - then I want to remind you: it's not your fault. You are Christopher's mom, not his 24/7 nurse. You are a great mom: loving him, providing opportunities for him to grow, encouraging him, even giving the needed push on occasion. I honestly don't know if you needed that sort of encouragement bc you seem to be such a seasoned warrior in this battle, but I had to give it just in case {{{hugs}}}

I'll second what Chris said... As I said we missed 2 small strokes. Can I also add that once we found out that Kathleen may have more strokes I slept with her at night and she actually woke up one morning having had a stroke and couldn't use her right arm. I felt so bad...I was there by her side and couldn't help her. She just got up out of bed no complaints I didn't even know she had had a stroke until she tried to open the fridge wiht her right hand and it didnt' work.She just went on about her business and used her left instead. I on the other hand was freaking out knowing what had happened. Our kids seem to just accept so much and don't complain... Mary Grace

Well thats tough news to hear. And yes he has had more than his fair share of health issues. Very hard on Chris as well as you all too. When you get right down to it...the cognitive part of DS is a piece of cake...but the health issues really suck...dont they.

My goodness, I am so sorry to hear this. He has had more than his share of a rough medical road. I hope and pray they are able to discover the cause, and prevent more strokes in the future.
I send you my prayers, and hugs too. Sharon

Well, that is just the suckiest news I've heard. I'm so sorry, CC - I would be freaking out. Have they given you a reason to believe that it can be prevented in the future? We'll be saying prayers for Christopher, for your family, and for wisdom for the docs. How is Kodi Lee taking all this? Victoria would be devastated, and I know that your kiddos are very close too. Hugs.

Thanks everybody The Neuro Doc says they are old and believes most likely were due to his heart issues. She is sure they probably occurred before Chris got his Pace Maker. Not sure how she knows that but what she said. Nothing for us to do, so they tell me. I just pray it was in the past and it never happens again!! I will run it by Christopher's heart Doc. Thanks again for listening CC~
