For those of you who have been following Emily living and working away from home....
Here is a new episode.....
*******************************************
Just thought I would share an unfolding story with you all.
You know Norine has a non profit called Imagine Enterprises www.imagineenterprises.com/funding.html
Well it seems there is an annual fund raiser in Seabrook called Yachty Gras for it. Emily came home with an invitation and we are going to buy her a ticket for two....(we cant go)....that will get her dinner...drinks...and...a chance for several 200.00 certificates at the local mall...and One $10, 000 certificate for the mall as well!!!! There will only be 100 of these tickets sold.... so good chances. Problem is...it will have to be in our name...cuz if Em wins the BIG ONE...she will lose her SSI!!!!! A $200.00 she can have....but of course we will share the Big One with her if it comes our way...LOL.
The problem now as her job coach sees it is...WHO will Em have take her...who will use the other ticket. There are several possibilites including Katie who could drive down from Austin....and several others in Emilys life from her community. I think its really interesting the way they want her to work all this out.
I intitally emailed them and said save a $200 ticket (the one with the raffle ticket and admission for two) for Emily. I then got an email that said...."Have you talked this over with Emily?" I had ...so had her respond to Kim's (job coach) email.
They then had an email round robin for almost an hour (Em types painfully slow)....and now we are at the point of deciding who will help her with a costume...where will she get it...what will it be...how will she pay for it....
It really is interesting to see how they are trying to develop all these independent thinking skills in her....and they are totally amazed that I would think she couldnt problem solve and trouble shoot when flying.....LOL...guess its just the overprotective mom in me......
Ok any ideas for a good costume and source for it? Has anyone ever rented online?
any pattern and seamstress ideas?
Jackie
