I've really been working with Emily on being more polite. When she was little, she was so good about always saying "please" and "thank you". Not so much anymore!! I've really started noticing it lately, and decided it wasn't going to get better if I didn't just make the time to work on it. So, I've really been trying to strongly encourage her to at least say "please" consistently. (Well........to say it at all!!)
Tonight, we were driving and she asked me to turn the radio on in the van. But, she basically said "Radio on, Mom". I replied "Emily, you need to say please". I looked in the rear view mirror and caught her rolling her eyes, so I emphasized that the radio would only be turned on when she asked me politely, using the word PLEASE. She sat quietly for a few minutes. Then she says with a huff "P-L-E-A-S-E"! (Spelled it!!) I smiled at her and told her that wouldn't work. Then she asked if I had a pen. I decided she had given up any hope of getting to listen to the radio, and I handed her the pen. Next thing I knew, she handed a note to me that said " PLEASE the radio Mom"!!!
The girl has a stubborn streak a mile long! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
