Seems like I've heard this from many parents, but I'm just curious to hear how many here have experienced it. Ethan LOVES to throw things. His favorite activity on vacation is to go to a beach that is rock-strewn and throw rocks in to the water.
He went through a period a couple of years back from maybe 8-11 years of age where he would throw toys. Open up his Batman stuff and throw each and every piece at the wall. Then move on to his Thomas the Train stuff and throw all of that at the wall. It was maddening, it seemed that all I did was pick up toys.
After a while, I started making him pick the mess up. He would happily do that, and then turn right around and throw them all at the wall again. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!
It finally seems to be coming to an end. He turns 12 in December, and I'm feeling like I can safely paint his room again. There are so many dings in the drywall that it's going to take an eternity to fix them all. And odd colored marks on the wall where some toys hit hard enough to leave color on the wall. One wall in particular has been driving me crazy, but painting it again before he was done with this was completely pointless.
Let's hope I'm right and he's through, LOLOL!!!

Hi! Sean has always been a thrower/dumper. The throwing has slowed down in the last couple of years but the dumping still happens. It's like he isn't happy until the house looks a mess. Our house desperately needs a paint job and there are gouges everywhere. We are waiting until Sean grows up some more and stops destroying the walls. In his room I got those wall stickers. He has a whole jungle theme and I painted the rest of the wall to be the trees and bushes. Looks cool but of course he is now peeling the stickers off. Lasted a whole two years! Kid makes me crazy. Lol

Logan only throws basketballs at the basketball hoop and "indoor snow balls" in our hallway . . . but boy does he love to dump! Just looking around, I see three piles of small things that he dumped just between school and bedtime.

Lol. Sounds familiar! Every time we clean up his toys he dumps them the moment he sees them. We now lock half of them in a room and we rotate them because I was tired of fighting with him. He's 11! You'd think we'd be done with this! Lol

Sarah has finally outgrown throwing everything. Not only has she thrown everything, she is also pretty good at hitting her target. She would throw just for the joy of throwing. I am so very grateful we are finally out of that stage. Honestly, I think she was about three when it started and didn't slow down until she was twelve.

Wow, clearly we are not alone in this, LOL!
I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one putting off repainting until the worst of it was over. Looking at his walls made me crazy some days.
He also went through a weird stage where he would open the bi-fold doors all the way, until they were folded in upon each other, and then bang them against the door frame. Trashed both his and his brother's doors, as well as the closet door in the front room. Absolutely crazy-making. I fixed those door tracks so many times that they need to be replaced!

Yup....I've got a thrower ! and she especially loves our second floor landing because it opens onto the first floor foyer below....and.....when items are tossed over the balcony....oo-la-la.....the NOISE is wonderful ( to her!) She is 13 now....and it has decreased a lot.....but when she was young.....anything NOT NAILED down would be thrown !

Eric has always been a "thrower"...some have read my stories about throwing his shoes/socks out the school bus windows. He has slowed down some since he's gotten older, but still enjoys making his Dad crazy by throwing all his toys, balls, etc. over the backyard fence. Fun when you are mowing the lawn...its like a mine field.
