OK, I just had to share because well, it's on my mind tonight and I can't get it out.
I had a mole removed a few weeks ago and went to be reexamined and find out the results. Well, the mole results came back as a pre-cancerous. I have to go in for Out patient surgery and have more skin removed and examined.
All this is after finding out my husband has severe eye degeneration from diabetes. He didn't even know he had diabetes. Actually, he found out from the eye doctor. We've just finished 6 lazer treatmeants and hopefully, he's done.
Alethea has a cardiologist appt. in Dec. where we find out when and where her heart surgery will occur as well as what type of surgery she'll undergo.
My husband is changing jobs (a very good thing!). We don't have to move.
I'm beginning a part time teaching job from Dec. to April.
To say I'm stressed, well...what else can I say?
I guess I just needed to vent a little, I'm needing some encouragement, and maybe ask if anyone else has experienced the pre-cancer cell thing.

Sounds like a really stressful week for you for sure! I'm sorry all this is happening at once.
My husband has had several skin cancers removed from his face........they did not start out as moles, but just plain skin cancers (basal cell and squamous cell ones). After they were removed, he had to use a cream (Aldara) to "be on the safe side". And, I had 3 precancerous lesions removed 2 weeks ago from my upper arm. The doc referred to these as "actinic keratosis" lesions or "solar keratosis", and encouraged me to do a better job of using sun screen and staying out of the sun. Good advice........I'm going to try!!

I'm sorry to hear you had such a distressing week... ((hugs)) It is horrible when all the news seems to be bad and seems to be piling up higher and higher.....take a deep breath and let yourself worry about the important things....your health and your family.....don't think about housework or other mundane stuff. Also....even though the partime job will bring it's own stresses.....it is YOUR time...enjoy it and use it to expand your mind. I know....easy to dish out advice.....but I've defintiely been in your shoes.....
did the heart surgery....thank God it's behind us....... My son is diabetic.....so I know where you are coming from there ....let me know if you have any questions !! Although there are definite differences in a young child with Type 1 and an older adult who can manage his own needs....but still......I'm here if you have any questions ! So sorry to hear that it went so long undetected...what a way to find out ! Poor guy ! the only information I have on the cancer cells...is my granmother had some years ago, on her face, they were removed and all seems well....she has a special cream she uses as well..... You vent all you want.....and I officially give you permission to go out and get your nails done or do a new "do" for yourself Hopefully your week will pick up ! Allisa

Sorry you are stressed! I have no personal experience wiht pre-cancerous skin cells, but a friend of mine does have them in her mouth. Her dentist found them and told her never, EVER smoke or she's in for it. Curiously enough, her mom was dx'd with oral and throat cancer earlier this year (never smoked) and it was really bad. Hmmm...now you have me thinking of calling her and telling her to go in and have those things taken OUT!

Kristen,
Interesting they were in her mouth. My mole was in an odd place too, one that was not affected by the sun. I've said enough. Anyway, I've never heard of such a place for spots (in the mouth). I'd tell to at least watch them. I'm freaked out about mine, but cancer is my worst fear.

Valerie
when hubby & I were first married I noticed several moles on his back and I told him 'those don't look quite right to me' He told me they'd been there forever. His MOTHER told me they'd been there forever. I ignored them and made an appointment for him at the dermatologist. atleast 2 of them were precancerous and he had them removed. They did it out patient as well and he goes back yearly or so (if I make the appt) to have his skin rechecked. This has been almost 10 years now and all is well. (knock wood!) good luck with everything, it certainly sounds like you have alot on your plate. laurie

Thanks A.
You know life has a way of working itself out. Some days are stressful and full of stuff and other days are well...just days. Schedules are fun to coordinate, but with all that said, I'm back to being me and taking it minute by minute.
The reality is I can't do anything about the pre-cancer thing until my consulation on the 28th of this month and then we'll take it step by step after that. I'm not so stressed now to answer your question.
Thanks for the cyber hug and for asking.

stress...... hmmmm....here's my take on stress...as if you care... ESPECIALLY NOW...but I am gonna add it anyhow... Stress is something kinda like a temporary insanity. The insanity I am talking about here is not the kind that'll get me thrown in a loony bin. The stress/insanity I am referring to is the kind that makes me forget WHO walks beside me and WHO lives, within me and as a result of this loss of memory, shuts down my soul.BUT I do know this is only temporary insanity. Girl I hope you know this is only temporary. take a deep breath and try toget everything out of all what are semingly negative experiences. Through our hurdles and struggles we have learned so much about ourselves we never would have learned had we not been placed in a predicament and opened up our minds to others we may never ever met. Use This time to learn as much as you can ,. Bethcaq you'll be back here in january a much more grown peson. Hey thats how I take it or LMAO I would DEFINATELY be in that straight white jacket.

Just an update...
I had the rest of my biopsy done 10 days ago. I went back for results and to have stitches removed. I found out that my doctor got all of the pre-cancer cells. He also highly recommended I go to see a dermatologist and the have the rest of my body checked.
My job is going well, Gary's new job is going well, and Alethea doesn't need surgery! Stress is finally going by the wayside. Thanks for your prayers and encouragement.
