Friends and Family…..This bittersweet tale of Laineys pregnancy has a ….HAPPY ENDING. At 1:30 PM on Jan 7 Lainey delivered by C section an apparently healthy 6.8 lb baby girl who as of last night is yet to be named.
She is truly a beautiful little girl as are most baby’s who don’t have to go thru the birth canal trauma.
Their chosen pediatrician, who is also a friend of mine who has a 2 yr old with DS herself was in attendance. She told me and my sister Jeanette right before that she was going in expecting the baby to have DS from all the verbal reports she had been given….but also said she been at two other c sections where the baby was also expected to have problems …and turned out they didn’t…
For starters….we began this saga yesterday like an episode of Family Vacation. I am sure we probably set a record for numbers of people present for a birth…LOL. But Kyle, Laineys husband is an only child …so for his family this was a momentous occasion…and many were present. Also several lifelong friends of Laineys including one guy who was a recent dad himself and explaining to all of us how the birthing process would go…too funny.
Poor Lainey who was terrified of this procedure got to the hospital at 6:30 for an 8:00 delivery…and they ended up bumping her back three times!!
About 11 her 86 yr old grandmother came in along with her daughter, Laineys aunt Linda, who was in a wheelchair??!! Seems she had fallen on the way into the hospital and couldn’t bear wt on her leg. Also missing in action at this point was Laineys grandfather,Homer, who somehow got separated from them and was later found waiting in the wrong waiting room…LOL…At this point my distraught sister Jeanette just sobbed….”The madness is JUST beginning..”…we needed that comic relief.
But all went well…many tears of joys in those hallways…let me tell you. We have all held this bundle of joy….and mom and babe and dad seem to be doing well at the moment….as of yet no explanation of why she needed 8 ultrasounds and how they could have been so wrong about these problems.
And…oh yes….Aunt Linda has a fractured patella and will have surgery Monday.
Thanks for everyones prayers and kind thoughts...
